Making Money From Parked Domains

Many of us have killer domains that we havent had time to develop yet, either because we simly dont have enough time in the day or, because we havent quite figured out what to put on the domains. In effect, we have spent money on a domain that is being wasted because we arent making anything back from that domain whilst it isnt developed. This brief article is hopefully going to change that.

Domain Parking - The Basics.

Domain parking is nothing new however, many webmasters simply dont understand the concept. In essence, you point your domains DNS settings to your 'Domain Parking' sponsors settings and sit back and hopefully watch the $$$ roll in. This takes next to no time on your part as you can set this up relatively quickly from the second you register your new domain and, you can park your domain so that it displays results similar to that you want to promote on the name itself.

Now that you know how easy it is to setup domain parking, lets take a look at the options available to you when choosing WHO to park your domain with, presently, there are 3 companies that i would reccommend to you, these are:

Sedo is by far the better option of the two to utilize though on your undeveloped domain names, this is the service we use and, make the most short term profits with.

Setting Up Your Landing Page.

Most domain parking programs will give you a default landing page to use however, these landing pages are often very bland so far as marketing goes and, they also dont yield a very high CPC value. However, by setting up your own targetting you should be able to increase the value of a click made by one of your site visitors from $0.03 to $0.50 if not more. For example, one of our currently parked domains on Sedo is http://www.pageranked.com this domain is currently pulling in around the $0.50 profit range a day which, after 30 days, has paid for the domain so we have broken even on a domain that is currently undeveloped!

Reviewing Your Parked Domains.

From time to time it is also advisable to 'review' your parked domains, all of the parked domain programs above will give you a breakdown of how many visitors your parked domain has received and, more importantly, how much money your parked domain has made you. If you notice after a month or two that your click value per visitor is dropping, redefine your landing page for that specific domain and, you should see your CPC values rise again.

Domain Parking - An Overview

Many publishers forget that domain parking can be used to generate income instead of just as a 'holding page' for a domain that is for sale, in fact, there are those of us who utilize these programs to build a profit on our undeveloped domains as well as garner statistics that we would otherwise not have if the domains we have parked were otherwise left un-propagated. By taking a few minutes to join such a program, you are in effect giving yourself an additional revenue stream and, as we have found out, if you have a reasonably good undeveloped domain, it could end up paying for itself within the first 30 days.
