New Life - New Restart - New Affiliate Site Query

Hi

I was in the industry kinda about 8 years ago and then got sidetracked.

I am hoping to re-renter it by making a Gay Site Blog type site, I know there are millions. Something along the lines of: Gay porn Blog, Manhunt Daily etc.

Haven't worked out my USP (if there can be one this late in the proceedings), but thought I would try and maybe get a little bit of money hopefully from site signups.

I'm getting confused with all the options in promoting the sites, RSS feeds, unique RSS feeds, just copying the images in the affiliate areas (in moderation) and writing a blurb etc.

At the moment I don't have a niche, but have signed to: Sean Cody, Cocky Boys, Men.com, and Next Door...

Are there any basic tutorials of getting the affiliate information (like new scenes etc) into the blog which is Wordpress. I design sites as a living (yeh well.), so posting etc isn't an issue, but is there a more efficient way to get posts entered auto or semi-automatically.

I don't mind putting in the work but if there's a way to save some time - I see most have RSS feeds can they be used to create posts?

I know this is rambling, and I know the heyday of making millions from such a site (especially one not established for years) is non existant but if I can make it so I can make a couple hundred a month, I'd be almost satisfied.

On a side note, over the years I have collected 200+ magazines from Freshmen, In Touch, Playguy etc and want to sell them on another site I have created.

Is there an easy way to get visitors - I am based in Australia so can only ship to AU as the shipping of magazines overseas would be a multiple of the magazine price.

I remember you used to be able to buy x amount of banner impressions and only present them to a certain country, so am wondering if that was an option,

Original content is always better but yes, You absolutely can use RSS feeds to auto post for you. Just search for an RSS Feed Plugin if you use WordPress. The thing to keep an eye on is that the feeds you choose actually update with new material. Sometimes a program just drops them, or there's like 10 posts total and you're left wondering why there isn't a new post on your site.

Another method is to let the RSS feed come in as a draft, so that it has to be approved before it goes live. It lets you catch spelling errors, and change up text and keywords so you're not in a situation where google ignores you because it's duplicate content found elsewhere. You can also add more photos or change the one the feed offers up. It requires a bit of time, but not nearly as much as trying to come up with the copy if you're not a very good writer plus it saves you fetching a video clip and/or photos as they are already included in the RSS feed post.

As to niche, good rule of thumb is promote what turns YOU on! From the ones you chose so far it looks like you are leaning towards Twinks.

I don't want to steer you off of some of your choices, but I would like to suggest you also sign up as a member on Gaydemon.biz so that you can check out Bjorn's Sponsor Report thread. Note: you will have to wait for approval to get your pass activated ... just tell them you're coming back as an affiliate and mention Bec sent you :)

And do look at the programs that provide you with an email with links and text to use for their updates. Copy / paste can be a beautiful thing!

Thanks for the info and suggestions, I will follow up about the RSS feeds and like the idea of making them drafts so I can reword them as necessary!

I am getting emails with cut/paste links etc which makes it all a lot easier.

Yes I agree with advertise what does it for you, I guess, younger guys, latinos I guess.
