    Happy Newbies here....

Hi all.. Happy young Gay Couple here stepping back into the adult industry after a brief period a few yrs back in it... We are pretty much newbies to the adult industry and have been doing lots of reading on this board, and decided it was about time to join! We have been around a few years in the internet industry, mainly in website promotion etc (not for adult sites) and it is something we have wanted to get back into, so here we are!
Have read much great information here, and especially the ones of Gary-Alan and the like, and other members etc..and think this provides a great resource for all kinds of information - WE hope to become long-term members and hope to contribute when we can also in time, as this board has helped us much already!
At the moment, we are in extensive planning on a network of gay sites. We are in the process of designing a large unique design for a paysite, (us and another client/friend involved) and at least 15 other gay sites (some of those 'other' ones using some template designs, some designed from scratch - UNIQUE webpage design - not the usual 600x400 flashy design)doorway pages, etc... that we are going to network together, offering the most unique huge selection of everything we can offer, and cheap trials (and memberships which will include the membership to all of the sites). We have a pretty good idea (did some adult work over the past couple of years.... are still catching up on the news!) of what we want to do etc.. But any advice here would be appreciated. We have our own dedicated servers etc, so that is taken care of, and we are doing the designs ourselves, but need some advice in the new area maybe pertaining to TGP posts, submitting to directories and stuff, GOOD content providers that provide also video etc, mainly MEMBERS AREA CONTENT is what we are deciding on soon. We want to offer a bit of everything, including ezines, stories, etc, but not go overboard, and trying to have something uniquely different on each of the sites. We are a little confused on payment processors with all of the changes - Any recommendations for a good processor?
I see alot of CCbill and paycom.net? Would like one that will handle the affiliate stuff, because after the sites are working for a while and we see how they are doing, we will be setting up affiliates and a seperate site only for affiliates.
WE have checked into many content providers, including TopBucks, AEBN, Ounique, and XXXMediaGroup - - any thoughts on those??
Sorry so long and so many questions!!! We realize there is so much to know.. and it will always be a learning process always.. and thanks to you all in advance for the help and advice!!!

Welcome to the community guys :groovy:

Okay to answer your questions here goes (forgive me if i miss anything )

    1) First and foremost payment processors, a lot has changed in the last year or so, you now have to pay a $750 fee to the processors for them to even start the application process, you mentioned CCbill and to be honest, that is where i would go as oppose to the alternative you mentioned, they have been around the block a few times (and im not just talking about Patrick LOL) and are definately a solid processing company, they can also handle your affiliate codes too

    2) Content, you mentioned AEBN, Ounique and, XXXMedia, all three of those companies offer exceptional quality for content as well as the companies you listed there make sure you check out the content providers listed in the GWW directory too, there are some great services offered there also if you are looking for chat type feeds check out http://www.stroke4u.com/freefeeds/

    3) TGPs and the likes, to be honest, i dont really do much TGP'ing myself other than owning www.cumsoda.com so thats not really something i have enough info on, perhaps one of the other community members will be able to assit you there

    4) As for the design aspect of the site network you are building it sounds like you have some solid plans already and if you need any help with that im sure Scorpio will be glad to help you out, you can reach him in the design forum.

Oh and welcome to the community again look forward to seeing how things develop for you guys

    Regards,

    Lee

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply and thanks for the welcome..
Yes, we have many things planned, and trying to not make too many mistakes (or to a minimum).. and I guess you probably get asked questions on marketing all the time.. (have read in the other forums about this.. so maybe I should post there ?) Is there a big list of do's and don'ts that we should consider as far as promotion for at least the first couple of months (to start out with I mean!) to get traffic built up? (We will be sending huge amts of adult purchased traffic, but know that is not much and prob wont convert well) I mean, besides submitting to all of the adult links etc?
We have found out that fee about CCbill, and see that is used alot on the net, so will probably go with them.
WE realize we are taking a big jump into this industry and don't want to setup our own affiliates yet until sites are getting some good traffic/members etc, so in the meantime is there anything you suggest as affiliates (such as your own listed there) that will help.. I mean, because we cant obviously put those on our paysites...but on other smaller sites (non-paysites) we could..

    Thanks for the info!

RW & JG, welcome, its always nice to see new couples in the business! I would like to suggest that you take it a bit slow to start off with so that you can get to know how things are working again. Things have changed massively over the last few years, especially with visa's new rules. There are only a handful of billers left and this is seriously affecting the number of paysites run by small companies. This has also reduced the number of AVS sites (which aren't even called AVS anymore). Plus every year traffic seems to get less and less productive as more and more surfers seem to have joined sites in the past and know what they want and (more importantly) how to cancel quickly. More and more people are getting into traffic brokering which has not been positive. For paysites, two years ago it was fine to update monthly but now if you do that you are doomed. For free sites, you can no longer get away with building template sites, each has to be unique. Even TGPs are demanding minimum picture quality, gallery quality and almost all require thumbs now!

Anyway, the point being there is a lot to learn and the only way to learn it is with time, so make sure this is budgeted properly in your business plans.

    cheers,

    Luke

Welcome to the 'newbies'. To meet other webmasters face to face, you might want to consider attending the Phoenix Forum in April. I know I'm prejudice because Phoenix is my hometown, but we really to get a lot of quality webmasters in for the event. As a matter of fact, Gaywidewebmasters.com is one of the rainbow sponsors of this event. The website for the forum is thephoenixforum.com.

BTW, Lee loved the smart ass comment about 'around the block'.........of course that's not true, not that there is anything wrong with that............
