muscle site - is it mainstream?

i'm shooting content for a new site. the site will show muscle men posing, flexing, and giving interviews about working out and training tips.

i'm sure some of the guys and gals who join the site will want to watch the bodybuilders - often dressed in speedos or posing trunks - with shall we say prurient interest. but there is no nudity, no masturbation, no sex. still, i am very aware that there will be sexual interest in the models on behalf of the surfers.

so, is this site mainstream or ???

It sounds like something you'd see on ESPN on any day of the week. I'd call it mainstream.

I guess it also depends on how you present and promote it, though.

so, tombarrr - muscle men in shorts, no talking about sex, some actual working out, but also the guys take off their shirts on camera slowly... mainstream or soft, soft porn?

I was at a couple of muscle type sites recently and the focus there seemed to be:

Join my site and: - see me work out nude, - see me pose nude & - discuss with the guys on the message board diet, training and stuff like that..

As for your site -- hmmm well I vote that its mainstream. I think the real test though would be if you also plan on getting any sponsors or affiliate merchants on your site -- what they think or how they classify it as.

Because, as I've found out with my dating tips site -- it doesn't really matter what I think -- a lot of affiliate merchants won't touch me.

    I'd say Mainstream

basschick, I think the fact that the site is published without nudity or sexually explicit material makes it mainstream (you are publishing it with the intent for it to be mainstream).

Regarding how it will be perceived, that is a different story--many people see things differently. For some, it may be erotic, for others it may just be exactly what you see it as--a muscle site with guys posing. But whatever the perception is, I would imagine that the site would still have to be classified as mainstream.

i thought mainstream, lee thought porn. i think lee was considering the motivation of the surfers, but i'm not.

as far as the affiliates, i hope they all consider it a great option for their muscle traffic, and send me all the hits they like - i have no fear of hits from porn sites... i'm planning to have the tools you see for pornsites - fpa's, fhg's, etc, because i think they are very good marketing tools even in mainstream.

I would also have to say mainstream but it does depend on the images and the terms of service. As long as no nudity on the site whatsoever, it sounds mainstream

I'd suggest buying one extra domain or having 2 doors
One for mainstream and then doing another for more off the beaten track

You could then see which does better and have your cake and eat it too
