Okay we've all heard about blogs, chances are, a few of us own one but, hav you ever thought about the different uses that Blogs have? They arent just an online journal to be used for selling porn. With that in mind, are you wasting your time by not targeted your blog to your visitors needs? Read on and find out.

Just as there are a slew of different site concepts in the adult industry, there are also a range of different types of blogs each one with its own purpose. The following information will hopefully let you decide which type of blog is best for you and, your business.

Blogging - For Customer Relations.

Does your blog help you with your existing client base? Do you provide your customers with useful hints and tips? Can they be used to answer your customers questions instead of them having to email you?

If the answer is yes to any of the above, then your blog is currently being used as a customer service too and, by using it as such, you are probably strengthening not only your site but, your brand. Companies who spend a lot of time interacting with their customers tend to build customer loyalty a lot easier than those that dont, by maintaining a constant flow of information pertinent to YOUR business, you are keeping your companies name in front of the surfer as much as possible, in turn, they will think of you next time they want to buy a specific type of 'widget'.

Blogging - For Sales.

A sales blog is one that isnt focused so much on interaction with your customers, more keeping them updated on whats new, hot and upcoming with your company and, your affiliated sites. Sales blogs make up the vast majority of blogs in the adult industry, all of them seem to bombard the reading with ads or reviews, in an effort to get them signing up to your sites and sponsors. The goal of a 'sales blog' is to get the surfers off the blog as soon as possible and in to one of your sponsors sites.

Blogging - For Fun.

Overall, personal blogs that are being done as a hobby make up the vast majority of online blogs at the present time, they all have one thing in common, the owners of the blog arent writing them for profit, they are being filled with entries just for the fun of it. The personal weblog can be used for just about anything, often, they are used because the blog owner has a specific interest in something and wants to share their knowledge with the world and be heard.

Okay so now you know what the 3 blog types are, which category did YOUR blog fit in to? Have you found that you are writing one type of blog but wanting the benefits of another type?

If your current blog is doing well for you, dont touch it but, if you think your blog can be improved, make a few changes to it. However, before making any changes ask yourself a couple of questions:

1. Can i drive sales from the blog?
2. Would i be better suited interacting with the readers or, writing about products and services?
3. Am i the best person to be writing my blog or, would it be easier to get someone else to write entries for it?
4. How much time do i have to spend on my blog?
5. How much 'information' do i want to be giving out for free?

If you can honestly answer the questions above and, see how that answer fits in with your current format, the chances are, your blog is working exactly how you want it to however, if the answers to those questions dont currently fit how your blog operates, you might want to consider making a change or two.

Blogging, whilst it started as a method for individuals to communicate with each other online, for some has turned in to a thriving business, by not having your own blog, are you losing out on the huge potential that this market place has to offer? Only you can answer that.
