Very interesting points of view. One thing that I now understand about the topic is that barebacking is an acceptable way to have sex for a great many people in this country and around the world. It is reflective of our society and how we view sex, morality, and ethics.
I thought it was time to confront this issue head on. I was faced with a dilemna and now I know what I'm going to do about it.
We talked about impression here. Well, to be honest, some of the sites of webmasters on this board give the "impression" of underage models. The models may be of legal age, but the "impression" of the graphics are to prey upon the pedopheliac cravings of the surfer.
If a webmaster attacks another webmaster here maliciously and with hatred, just because they have a differing opinion, that is behavior just as risky as unprotected sex. Hate fuels alot of the war in this world, the poverty in this world, and the suffering. I saw hatred on this board and that to me is truly sad to see.

I agree with Charles on this for the most part. Why can't debates be less of personal attacks? It truly is sad, that important issues evolve into nothing but personal attacks. :cry:Originally Posted by Huskyhunks
just my opinion though.

Huskyhunks - if you're in california, you can receive truly enormous fines or potentially go to jail for producing a bareback video with a guy with hiv. i don't know about other states, but i do know about this one.
btw, i've been wondering - if you really felt totally okay with it, why would you ask for our opinions?
But did you take photos?Originally Posted by Squirt

I'm not totally ok with it. I wanted to express that I mixed feelings about producing porn like this and I wanted to know how you guys felt about that. I have to go with my gut on this one and I just don't want to put anyone in harms way so I won't do it.
There are two sides to this issue and who is to say that one is more valid than the other. It's a personal choice for me to engange in the kind of sex I want to. With that being said, I have to take responsibility for my actions. I choose to have safe sex but it's my choice.
I see barebacking become more "mainstream" in gay movies. I just had to ask why that was.

*note to self* don't drink fuck then post, then fuck again, and again :high:
I would completely agree with the above statement. In talking to a lot of our models (all of whom are under 24), it seems that crystal is very highly correlated to barebacking because apparently one of the side effects of tina is a desire to have sex RIGHT NOW and responsibility goes out the window.Originally Posted by Dzinerbear
Additionally, I have seen very, very, very few people that have been able to *responsibly* use crystal meth (as in, use it occasionally and not get pulled down into the dirt) and dozens of guys that were once adamantly anti-drug that are now hopelessly caught in the crystal addiction spiral.
We will be working on a documentary on HIV among young gay guys (specifically, some of our models and others). It will be a freely distributed DVD that we hope to get out everywhere so that the young gay guys that *haven't* got any idea what they're dealing with can perhaps get a message that will hit them between the eyes. But we've also discussed, after the first documentary is done, doing another one specifically on crystal meth because I agree that it is rapidly becoming as much of a problem among gay youth (and the rest of gay society) as HIV is.
crystal - a recent thing? not around here.
crystal was a regular thing in hollywood and the mcarthur park area -especially with bi guys having gay sex in the 70's and 80's. most of the guys i know who got hiv actually got it either through shooting with another guy who was positive or else through sort of bypassing judgement while buzzed.
nor here but the availability is more wide spread. The rave act came down and killed the MDA market (yes, I know… everyone still does it and can get it but I’m not talking about knockoff MDMA)Originally Posted by basschick
In the 90’s ICE was the choice but at its cost, almost unheard of. Today ICE is still high priced but can be found “almost” anywhere and Crank can be bought anywhere from schools to coffee houses to night clubs to the local trailer park. You don’t need to be rich to run a meth lab.
I stopped going to nightclubs around 8 years ago when the tina craze started to honestly become a nightly thing to do.
The gay community seems to have been hit hardest with this addiction as it’s a fast drug that keeps you up 6+ days trolling circuit party to circuit party fucking everyone else who’s doing the same.
The sad part is you would think Gay’s would have more respect for their looks but I guess toothless and ate up is the new pink.
I know that one of my employees back in the mid-90s in San Diego (non-adult industry) had a crystal problem, and I had a bf who had a relative who manufactured crystal in his kitchen (somewhere near SF), this was in '89 or so. So that was my first exposure to it. But I think the epidemic problems that we're now seeing in the midwest and south are relatively new, as in last 3-4 years.
I definitely know that here in SF, it seems like almost 100% of the young gay guys in the Castro scene are into crystal.
Basically, among the under 24 crowd, it seems to break up into two groups: Go to the castro, get drunk, do drugs, pick up guys, or NEVER go to bars or drink at all. Weird how there seems to be very little middle ground.
basschick,
I'm surprised you're not seeing it in LA, it's pretty much all over the place. When I was in Ft. Lauderdale for Internext, I spent some time in the chat rooms and most of the local people I talked to were either scared to death of HIV or were "partying."
The first time I encountered ecstasy was in 1999 and the mood in the clubs was pretty lovey-dovey. About a year later, a lot of the E started having meth in it and the scene started changing. The music was harder and the people were more aggressive. By 2003, we couldn't stand being at a dance bar or party.

I'm sorry to say this but some of your are spitting out the religious right propaganda regarding Crystal being a Gay issue and the reason people bareback and spread AIDS. It's not true. Meth is not a Gay problem, it's a societal issue.
If you disagree simply goto ANY rave in ANY town in ANY country on this planet. Ravers are not Gay.. they are a generation of boys, girls, men, women who do E to roll and have a good time.
I understand that some of us only can relate our experiences that only involve the Gay community that we are a part of, and not the straight community, but you need to remember that drug use, abuse, is not specific to sexual orientation.
Drugs are used by everyone in every facet of our society, not just Gay men. It's always been like this, it always will be. Don't believe the BS you're being fed at every turn telling you it's just our problem, as that is simply not the truth.
If every Gay man and woman was wiped off the face of the earth today would there still be AIDS? Would there still be raves? Would people still be promiscuous? Isn't it ironic that Sex In The City was so popular and such a big nationwide hit and consisted of women being openly promiscuous, yet Queer as Folk is condemned because of Gay men having the same behavior.
AIDS is not a Gay problem/creations. E / Meth use is not a Gay problem/creation. Promiscuity is not a Gay problem/creation. These are all issues that everyone deals with and are susceptible to, not, by a long shot, just the Gay community.
Squirt,
I totally agree that meth is by no means limited to the gay community... there have been a lot of articles about small towns in middle america where the livestock has been left to die of starvation because the farmer discovers meth, and high school kids (male and female, presumably mostly straight) in these small towns where meth is introduced and spreads like wildfire.
However, I can say that in san francisco, at least, meth use among gay youth (18-24) appears to be MUCH more prevalent than in the straight community. The raver crowd seems pretty different than the gay youth clubbing crowd. The ravers seem more inclined to stick with E, alcohol, and weed, while the gay guys use E, but crystal and coke seem to be a lot more prevalent. Both gay and straight youth also seem to be abusing Oxycontin and Vicodin in large quantities, and when I've discussed how close Oxycontin is to heroin, and how addictive it can be, most of them are genuinely shocked. So there is a tremendous amout of misinformation and lack of information among the culture.
We have models in both circles (which don't seem to overlap that much) as well as models and friends that are completely out of the drug/alcohol scene, and that's just the info that we get from them.
