    World Cup predictions?

It's that time again! For most of the world, at least. hehe.

Anyone care to make a prediction as to who will win this year's World Cup?

Anyone even going to watch it?

I guess Brazil would be the easy prediction, but I'm gonna go with the Czech Republic. Hot porn stars AND great football players!

Its about time England won again, its only been 40 years.

I beleive some super computer picked Brazil to win although, i have a feeling we'll be seeing some country that no-one would even expect to win, win this year.

That being said, England has a pretty nice squad this year so who knows

This is one of the only sporting events that I make an attempt to watch. Otherwise, I am not an armchair-athlete - belly is not big enough!

EXCELLENT choice! My World War prediction placed them on top, as well.

With all their uberstar players, everyone can see Brazil exiting as the victors, however, I believe that (too many super star players) will be what stops them, not the other teams. Gotta admit, I love watchin' the grin play - he is a natural genius and on his own IS the beautiful (teeth excluded) game!

Being Italian, I should be going with the Azures, but they have way too many issues going on (CHEATERS!), not to mention the fact that they have a llama for a captain - Totti spits a little too much. Also, as far as I am concerned, they typically play way too defensively (BORING!). HOWEVER, the last time a scandal rocked their world they came out of the deal victorious – they won.

Setting my dreams to the side (Czech Rep.), Argentina is the second logical choice (after Brazil) for a victory. Their team has a ton of good players. They play a beautiful and honest game and they play with heart.

England (LOL ... BAH HAH HAH). Yah, what can I say except too many people put WAY too much on them, not remembering that they really do not have a good team, only a few players. Yah, sure Rooney IS a real player, and does it for the love of the sport, but what about the rest of them? Know why he is so angst? Because his team m8s are standard players, at best, and just are not in to the game.

Henry and ZiZu cannot carry France, again. He will not be retiring on top.

One last thing: the US (Dreamer team) has made some serious improvements, however, they unfortunately do not have the feet to compete with the quality of players/teams/game that the Euros have.

The Saudis have the best team money can buy. I think they pay their players nice bonuses like a new ferarri for any goal scored during the world cup.

    Portugal!

I'm rooting for Portugal, but then again I am a little bit bias.

They will not win any of their games & will finish dead last in their group!
The players become exhausted way too easily (kinda like the complainers from En_gerland); they do not have a good defence; their forwards are even more pitiful; and the coach is a bit of a basket case. If anything, I feel sorry for their goalkeeper.
No idea how the idiots @ FIFA placed the US at #5.
ONE of the forwards went to Europe to play with the Bundesliga and he quickly returned w/his tail between his legs saying he could not keep up with the level of fussball. YET, FIFA gave the US better placement over Herman_E (12th or 13th).

The Czech schooled them with a 3-zip stompin'.

As far as I am concerned, there aren't many teams that deserve to win as much as they do (based only on the game).
Loius Figo has been denied for too long, also I am not sure I can handle the kid (Christian Ronaldo) breaking down, again, if they lose, again.

watching any sport on TV is more or less boring - I'd rather be outside playing.
However it is better than what I forced to hear and see right now in Edmonton.
For the last few months it's been nothing but meatheads & their Tennessee waterfall.

I can only hope & dream that the NHL would adopt the same mentality - playoffs once every four years.

Well I wouldn't say boring. If you're not too fond of or don't much appreciate the sport, then of course it'd be boring. Any sport would be.

I hate the NBA, so any basketball game is boring as hell despite all the points scoring and action taking place. I love baseball so can watch it for hours on end despite it being a pretty slow-paced game interrupted by precious few seconds of excitement.

When you enjoy a sport, you can enjoy much more than just blatant action. You see more of what's going on, appreciate the intricacies of it all more, notice what everyone's doing and why, and see how it all ties in to the outcome of the game.

The majority of the world's population very much enjoys and appreciates soccer. So I'd hardly call it boring. I'd just call some people bored by it.

Good point about people being bored by it, however as far as I am concerned, the popularity can not make it any less boring (unless popularity excites some), just more followed.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but I believe that is because it is one of the cheapest to play, in addition to its age & history.

I LOVE rock climbing and telemark skiing, yet I do not watch them on TV.
Maybe it is because I do not spend much time in front of the tube, or maybe it is because I'd rather be the one playing.
