Coup in Thailand -- Danny?

Actually, it IS a loss. Danny is a great guy with a lot to offer this board. He just got tired of webmaster self-righteousness, of which there is a lot (too much) to be found here.

I have to disagree, i dont think there is a lot of self-righteousness here at all, there are however a lot of people who have strong morals and ethics where things like promoting Mike18 and sites of a similar (or worse) nature is considered 'wrong' because of the audience those types of sites attract.

I would also say that we have a lot of community members who dont think defrauding people for hundreds of thousands of dollars is the right thing to do.

From what you have said, it seems like Danny had issues with some people being called out for promoting pseudo cp sites and the likes, i personally dont see that as individuals being 'self-righteous' at all in fact, i would say the individuals who brought the promoters of these types of site to our attention did the right thing.

Not because it helped them, but because it helped the rest of our community members know who to stay clear of in our business dealings, if Danny wants to do business with those individuals, fine, he can do so, but the vast majority of us want to know who the shady people in the industry are so we can stay as far away from them as possible.

Also, on a side note, i understand that one of the people who was called out for promoting pseudo CP sites was involved in negotiations to have his site purchased by Reece, just as Danny apparently was, i can certainly see how that could potentially have influenced Danny's decision to stop posting on GWW and also see why it might keep him from posting on GWW again.

Thats just my take on what you have said his reasons for leaving were thus far.

I just dont see why, if someone is having a problem with GWW, with me or, any of our other community members, they cant communicate about these problems and resolve them instead of pulling a hissy fit and storming out like a spoilt little child.

Seriously, you came in here looking for a fight and to make your point. Mission accomplished. We are all sufficiently aware of your position on the matter. I will remember in the future, that when it comes time to inquire about the wellbeing of another gay webmaster... that this is not the place to do it. The ability to take a compassionate and humanitarian question and flip the dialogue into one promoting a personal agenda is a rare talent. The diatribe above is vendictive, but completly unnesessary.

I just posted to let you know that he isnt around here anymore and, as such, didnt expect many people will have heard from him, guess i was wrong.

I still stand by the rest of what i said though defending my post letting you know he no longer posts here, although i dont know why it needed to be defended in the first place $0.02

Well, if that's the way you see it, I can't argue with you. You're entitled to your opinion. For my part, I think there's a difference between alerting people to things and moving on and causing a stir just for the sake of causing a stir. And I see an awful lot of the latter on here. But as I said, that seems to go with the territory of being in the adult industry. Oh well. I just wish that tact was something practiced a lot more regularly in this business.

Oh, he'll be back. Just about everyone who leaves eventually comes back. Once he realizes there is no real business being done on any of the other boards.

I know that sounds a bit harsh but in my mind, it's true. I've tried to become active on several other gay boards but I just can't find my groove. Sure people may be nice and friendly. But with few exceptions so very little actual information is exchanged. It's mostly light-hearted congratulations, program announcements, or "are you going to the next show" threads. And I find that REALLY boring!

Sure, there may be too much drama here and it can get quite predictable. Lee does press some of our buttons and in response, we become emotional. But where else can you find such a helpful, sincere bunch of REAL webmasters... not just "marketing types"?

A lot of stuff has been dug up lately and not very nice things exposed. What's done is done. People are aware and that is the goal, nothing else.

PLEASE remember that what is posted on boards is not always everything that one knows, but due to liability issues posts are made with absolute facts you can back up, or you have permission from interested parties to post Sometimes people you respect don't want their involvement made public and that needs to be honored.

People who are caught out say it's to cause drama and/or hurt someone else, that is not the case. It's to make others in our community aware so they can protect themselves and not be implicated in something they had no idea they were involved with.

Not so pleasant things happen on boards sometimes and that's just a reality.

Summer slowdown is over and we all need to get to work and secure a good few months productivity for an even more successful season this year

The generals behind the coup in Thailand have pledged their loyalty to the king of Siam.

I am sure that Danny and CJ are fine. CJ is in Hong Kong, and Danny may or may not be with him there. Even if Danny is in BKK it is a very peaceful coup. They have had 18 of them now over the last 60 years or so and while there was bloodshed in the last one, this one appears to be smooth and orderly. Just the military stepping in and taking over. Danny lives a long way from the government buildings and the tanks and troups are stationed in government places.

The country is not under martial law. They are censoring some western cable channels and some websites to prevent the now exiled PM from having a platform. Busineses are opening but schools and banks are closed today as a national holiday. New heads of the military and police are being named, with a new civiliann PM named who was the former head of the Bank of Thailand. he will assume the PM office very soon.

But not to worry, Danny is a smart guy. He's very well versed in Thai customs, he speaks the language and he is not the kind to do anything dumb over there.

He'll be fine. I'm sure you will all hear from him in various ways.

In reality, although it's a government takeover by the military, there is no real danger to anyone at this time.

As XXXwriter pointed out it was the FINAL straw for him. But you are so buried in your own self-righteousness that you don't even see what you did wrong.

You posted on a public forum (with your own motivations to be served) and said "Danny, check your PM I just sent you a message of someone accusing you of CP)." Wouldn't a Danny, check you PM be enough?

Of course after that post icq's start going. Curious minds wanna know. Duh!
