What worked for me was doing more cardio (which really underscored how badly out of shape I was) and just walking through the city looking at the people who smoke.. how bad their skin looks and how tired they look and hot stupid the actual act of smoking looks.

    That did it.:cigarette:

Just do it. That's my advice. Will yourself to not smoke and it will happen. The key is that you have to really WANT to stop.

Don't eat more, don't drink more. Try chewing gum if you need to. But it's not going to be easy. You just have to be stronger than your desire to pick up a cigarette.

You're doing something AWESOME for yourself. My hopes are with you. Best of luck.

*sigh* is it crazy to admit I actually miss smoking?

but I know its much better for me not to smoke, not to mention its much better on my wallet!

I found when quiting smoking, that I had to break a lot of routines, even ones not entirely related to smoking... like not drinking or eating something which I usually followed with a cigarette, or not going out to bars or clubs for a little while.

    good job and congrats!

    Cold Turkey

I just quit cold turkey and started working out more when I started feeling bad. The only problem I have now is smoking when I drink and I am getting better at not doing that. It's hard but you can do it

I try to figure out what are the BENEFITS of smoking. Does it give you a high at all? What is it about them that would make anyone want to try them in the first place. If it doesn't give you some kind of high, all that DEATH and stuff REALLY doesn't seem worth it.

have you tried the cold lazer treatement?

Has anyone tried that? I hear it works great.. but is easy to fall off.. only good thing is that you get free 'treatements' for the year after your first one

I am almost to 9 months.
I quit in mid-March 2006 and have not touched any tobacco product whatsoever in that time.

I used the patch, and willpower. I was a smoker for 25 years.
    Good luck.
