    Whistle While You Work???

Who here listens to music while they work?

When it comes to music I personally view it as kind of a big deal… Music has a power over people that is astounding. Music can affect people is so many ways. I listen to music in almost every single part of my life, and some people (i.e. my mother) can’t understand how I can do so. When I am driving in the car or cleaning my house obviously it is playing and that’s normal in her eyes. But, I also listen to music while talking on the phone (in the car or not), while I’m writing a paper, while I’m getting ready, while I am studying, while I’m at the salon, literally almost every element of life is filled with music and I love it.

I listen to almost all kinds of music... Personally I view music as a necessity. Music is how one expresses themselves and can affect an individual in many ways. It can lift me up when I’m down, it can pump me up when I need a confidence boost, it can do so much to change an individual.

I grew up loving music and soon got into theatre and choir. I sat first chair first tenor in the most elite choir in my high school for all four years. It was there that I learned such an appreciation for quality music, a variety of music and the need for a quality system to play it on. I’m not afraid to say that I will spend money on a quality sound system (another thing my parents don’t understand.) My living room has a 10 speaker surround sound system that costs more than a months rent. My car has a 12 speaker JBL system that can be heard from blocks away. Even my computer has a 7 speaker surround sound system. (of course I’m currently jamming out as I write this). I don’t have the nice sound systems to annoy the neighbors or be the one who can rattle the trunk of their car the loudest, but instead to listen to quality music and be able to hear all the elements of the music itself.

OK OK I know I’m ranting… regardless…. I just wanted some opinions on music in your everyday life. Does anyone agree with me, or my mother, or have any opinions they want to share???

I'm the same way. I listen to a lot of music. However, in the mornings I tend to listen to podcasts on my way to work but when I'm here in the office I usually have something playing. I used to take great care in choosing the right CDs for trips but now I just take my ipod (what a Godsend).

we listen to the I-Tunes radio most of the time but we also have a lot of cds loaded into the player and we also have Turner Classic Movies in the background - this is keep us happy and moving along and, also to serve as a good way to try to drown out the endless sound of the 10,000+ gardeners who descend on us every day to keep our neighborhood "picture perfect" at all times (a plug for the BH chamber of commerce!)

now you know why I hate doin biz over the phone!

Music means the world to me! From the moment I arrive to the office to the very second I leave music is being played. For the 1st three-hours of every morning (while alone @ office) tunes rediate from my sub & speakers.
Once the sleepyheads arrive (10am or so) the SennHeisers go on and my eyeballs start shaken!

For a while I was posting what I was listening to, but not many seemed to hold the same regard for music. http://forums.gaywidewebmasters.com/...d.php?p=111260

I'd rather lose my penis than my hearing because it's (music) THAT important to me!

just check out my sig - if yer a house fanatic you'll know it.

I'm the same way. Music is, as Shakespeare once said, the food of love, and I am ALWAYS eating! That's one of the reasons why I chose entertainment journalism as a career, because I get to write about one of my main interests -- and I get to interview some of my favorite performers and artists. There's NO better job!

I shower to music, I drive into work to music, I work with music on my iTunes, I have sex to music, and I put music on to fall asleep to. I'm almost always listening to music.

I've met people who claim they just don't get into music, and I'm almost absolutely blown away by a statement like that. I simply can't understand how anyone could not LOVE music. It's one of the most amazing things in the world. Besides movies (my other major passion), there's nothing that I use as a tool for personal catharsis and therapy more than music. And yes, I'm all over the place with the music that I listen to. Alternative, rock, pop, indie, classic rock, punk, R&B, hip-hop, experimental, showtunes, folk, country... you name it, I love it. (Except for rap and metal, I'm pretty much into it all.)

To me, there's no more beautiful moment than when a musician bares his or her soul in a way that cuts right through your heart and you are on the "same page" with them. It's an emotional connection that transcends the fact that you may have never met.

My whole thing about the arts is that people love it because it brings people together. People don't go to the movies to "lose themselves." They go to find themselves. They go to share in a common experience. They go to relate. They go to not feel alone. It's the same with music. It's an experience that joins people together on somewhat of a cosmic plain where we are all just people with hopes, fears, loves and losses that we want to express.

    I wish I was a musician.
