I cant see anything of interest on Logo worth even adding it to our existing cable package

Queen, Kylie, QAF, Cabaret, Liza Minelli, i mean yes i know its a gay channel but c'mon, thats just a little to gay

Its almost like 'gay' folk dont want to watch anything other than camper than camp programs or actors

Actually, there are some pretty cool things to be found on Logo here and there. Noah's Ark is one of the silliest things I've ever seen, but it can be a fun GUILTY pleasure (emphasis on guilty) if you take it in stride, and the network's music show, New Next Now Music is pretty cool as well. And they've picked up all the episodes of Wonderfalls, which was prematurely canceled from Fox after barely airing there at all. And there are a lot of pretty cool documentaries and movies that air.

Now, if I had to pay for Logo, I probably wouldn't bother, but I do appreciate having it as part of my regular cable line-up. Every now and then it's cool to turn on and see what is there.

Most of the gay programming going on these days is rather tame and safe. It's frustrating, but advertiser-supported TV is not about to shake things up TOO much.

Myself, I couldn't find a reason to even blog on the subject let alone find a reason to watch it.

but thought I would post it here for the Florida people.

I like Logo a lot but yeah, there's a lot of stuff on it I don't like. I really don't care about the twin brothers "I wanna be a pop star" show. Don't really care for Noah's Ark. But the music show is cool, love the news stuff, and thrilled I can catch up with Wonderfalls. Last Thanksgiving they were running a bunch of older movies and sitcoms that had gay characters, like that one with Jason Bateman that was based off of Kiss Me Guido. I thought that stuff was brilliant. I wish they had more stuff like that now. Reality shows bore me, even if they are gay ones. I'd love to see a film festival featuring a bunch of movies from the Celluloid Closet. Gay people have an interesting history in movies and television, even if a lot of it was hidden, but there is a lot they could have.

Sounds like LOGO has a problem... perhaps they don't relize that the campy part of the Gay community represents the vocal minority of the overall community.

A lot of Gay guys I know are average Joes with common interests in computers, corporate management issues, basic relationship issues, they love sci fi, camping, powertools (not my thing), and show's like Hue Fernly Whitingstalls "River Cottage" (for those Aussies and British members of the community)

The thing with the Gay community is that it's so diverse that when you pocket into a small stereotype of what you think they'll like, you're in trouble.

    What are you thoughts?

Well, yeah. I can see your point, Squirt. But Logo is not all camp. A lot of the programming does contain news reports and shows that have to deal with being gay in places across the country that are not necessarily where you would expect to find gay people. Not very campy at all. I'm sure eveyone has their own interests.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about earlier myself.

Let's just face it, Don: Gays are bitchy and hate everything they didn't create themselves. We always think we can do it better.

I can see your point. I've never seen the channel. I was going on what others in this thread said.

If I was in an area that aired logo I'd support the channel, but lobby to make it more successful and appealing to a broader Gay audience (again going by what was said in this thread)

I've heard the reason they haven't launched a national Gay cable channel is for this very reason, amongst a few others. We have the CSi channel , dedicated to murder and cops, the FOOD channel, the CHRISTIAN channel, and ANIMAL channel, the CARTOON network.... sad state of affairs for the Gay community, no Gay channel :kickcan:

Logo is actually intended to be a national channel. It's just taking longer to get included on cable lineups in some smaller parts of the world. And I believe that here! TV is available in most pay-per-view markets as well.

Logo is a lot like Lifetime, only for gays. Cheesy, sentimental and heavy on emotion, but it's better than nothing. Lifetime has gotten a lot better in the last year or so. It will take Logo some time before it actually grows some balls and starts doing some more challenging, daring programming.

Check out their programming schedule, then the movies, then the rest of the crap they are broadcasting.

Well, "First Comes Love" is an amiable enough show about gay weddings that can be good for couch viewing, and I think it's great that Logo has its very own standup comic show ("Wisecrack") to showcase gay and lesbian commedians. "Coming Out Stories" can be great for reminding the rest of us that it's not always so easy to be gay in all parts of the world, and, while I haven't seen "Bob and Rose" yet, I hear it's quite entertaining.

As far as the movies, it makes sense that they would show stuff like "Wigstock" and "A Dirty Shame." And "Queer as Folk" is a given.

Lee, you are always poo pooing stuff. You mean to tell me that you think all 24 hours of every day on this network is "crap" without anything positive to say? Fine, I'll accept that, but I want to know what you would show. Don't tear something down without making a suggestion of how it could be better. That's why society is in such a mess.

And sorry for calling you out on this, but I was President of my leather club for two years and no matter what I would do to make the members happy someone was always poo pooing about something. When I'd ask those people what they wanted to do they would just sit there all quiet. But once I went ahead and planned something, there they would be all poo pooing it. One time there was some event that we were asked to be part of and I was tired of trying to do everything myself, so I said in a meeting that we would not be participating. So one of the poo pooers said, "Well, how can you say that? I think we should do it." I looked him right in the eye and said, "Okay, we'll do it... and you can be in charge of it.".

Needless to say he didn't and shortly thereafter he quit the club.

So, poo pooing is a soft spot with me, so I am going to challenge you, my friend. And I mean this in a friendly and good natured way, I want to see what kind of programming you would put on a GLBTXYZLMNOP Television station.

    Don,

    Actually, yes i do.

There is NOTHING there that appeals to me at all.

I guess i could watch repeats of QAF at a push but i have them on DVD, along with the British version, i guess i could watch a couple of 10+ year old movies (Victor Victoria) but they are already on Cinemax and AMC every couple of weeks, i guess i could watch a couple of the documentarys, but i dont really watch documentarys LOL

Where is the action? The nerdy stuff? The sexy stuff?

I want to see some action movies, there are plenty of hot looking action movie stars, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, instead they are showing 'in and out' and 'cabaret'

As i say, there is nothing on there right now that most of us cant watch on our existing channels, no wonder its taking them ages to go national, they have nothing to offer that would woo potential subscribers to them.

I have to say, i was expecting at least 1 sort of softcore porn movie at the weekend, they dont even deliver that, a stable of gay life for many (and something that would probably get watched).

    Regards,

    Lee

When logo first came out - it was sited as "MTV Launches Gay Network LOGO"

MTV - who airs shows like...

Real world, Road rules, Laguna Beach (sexy cast and themes)Bevis and Butthead, Liquid TV and so on

I would have thought LOGO would be a bigger player in the market. That Here! and Hard tv would have a run for the money.

    Sadly, this is not so.

As a viewer I would like to see a Hard tv like lineup - Shows, news and movies with an afterhours cinema.

The shows don't need to be PNN dragqueen in the kitchen or Out of shape workout guy to be "gay tv"

The movie collection alone in gay cinema is HUGE and I'm sure Here! doesn't own the license to them all.

Don, you mentioned Celluloid Closet. A modern celluloid closet should be made to update the genera.

Movies like Jeffery, Pracilla, To wong foo, Birdcage, In and out - all Hollywood movies.

How about - Normal, Almost Normal, Love Liza, Hay Happy (My fav btw), yes nurse no nurse, 24th day (powerfull as fuck movie), Swoon, Bear Club, The MO of MI, Hard, In the Flesh, Before night falls, Bad Education ...

Or shows like 6 feet under, OZ - you would think they could have something made.

And I do love me some drag if done right. Girls will be Girls or Charles Bush.
