Anyway To Speed Up Movie Encoding?

I was just wondering if anyone knew any tried and trusted methods to speed up movie encoding timeframes?

Right now, i have 300 movie scenes that i have been encoding for the last 3 hours and its only actually encoded 4 of them LOL

Is it just a matter of waiting until the watch folder is finished or is there a method to speed up the encoding times that i dont know about?

Im using Sorenson right now.

I have 2 suggestions but neither are very practical. Use a high quality computer with lots of processing speed and RAM and when the movies are encoding, don't do anything else on the computer. Also, make sure that you kill all the processes you can on the encoding machine so it only really has to "concentrate" on the encoding.

Well right now its on a dedicated duel processor machine with enough RAM to power the Pentagon LOL

Im going to check out the other processes running now, didnt think of that thanks

Depending on the length of the clips, an hour per clip isn't out of the range for a 15-20 min clip if you're doing two-pass encoding. The only practical way to speed it up is to use multiple machines

We have three machines that we have available for encoding when we get in a crunch, and one that is dedicated near full time. That seems to work pretty well for our workflow.

Buy a seperate special plug-in card for this.
They are available widely on the market and speed up the process 5-fold.
Works out to be more economic then buying another pc (or two)

I haven't seen a hardware encoder card that will speed up encoding for Windows Media, and I've tried to keep an eye out... if you know of one I would LOVE to know about it!!
