Ya that’s how things always are, I really did not deal with many processors until lately so paycom was the first name I knew them by.

I however make a enough coin from watersports to justify keeping them on my sites; so I won't be taking them down.

Hmmm just checked -- Actually I'm only linking to one site at the moment and that would be on my gay links site. The watersports link at the blog is an aebn video. I did have more links at the blog awhile ago...

    Bleah. :sucks:
    Robin,

No mention of your site or blog site was made by Paycom. They don't appear to be concerned with who I link to on my blog.....go figure.

Changeover from Paycom/Epoch to exclusively Epoch.

    From my story:

Calling it both a “re-launch” and an “improvement” over the old site, Communications Director Rand Pate told AVNOnline.com that the new domain represents Epoch’s efforts to expand their services and simplify matters. The company had also done business under the name Paycom, which eventually became confusing and problematic. The Paycom brand has since been continued.

“We're very excited to have obtained the Epoch.com domain and simplify our branding efforts in that regard,” Pate said Tuesday. “A lot of things are coming together for us right now. We are simplifying what we can while at the same time adding new features and products. It's been a very busy time for us in recent months and it's so nice to see it all coming together.”

Not read the full thread so sorry if this has been answered already.

Heres how VISA work with banks and processors...

VISA rep walks in to bank managers office and says "im going to fuck you up the ass, bend over asshole".

Bank manager asks "what brand of lube would like to use this time, mr VISA rep? Let me get my junior to apply it for you".

VISA rule, CCBill and any bank around the world do what their told.

The difference is that CCBill know what VISA want, paycom have less experience.

My advice would be either follow what they want or move on, they are a back up processor, nothing more. Its going to cost you more in time (which is money) than its worth.

WHY do so many people think that Epoch has less experience than CCBill? They have actually been processing for adult LONGER than CCBill, have more experience, and are probably still larger than CCBill.

CCBill may have more gay clients and certainly much stronger visibility in the gay market, but Epoch is huge with straight traffic and growing in gay traffic. Both are equally adept, aware, and "connected in" as far as knowing both the current processing landscape and what's upcoming. That is why these two companies are still around while all the others have failed.

Epoch is most certainly *not* a "backup processor." There are many, many sites using Epoch exclusively, and many more that have Epoch and CCBill in an equal cascade.

You want a backup processor, you go with 365Billing or Segpay or one of the off-brand processors. You want reliability, you go with Epoch or CCBill.

marcjacob - ccbill was first registered in 1998, epochsystems in 1997 and i knew people processing with epoch wayyyy back when before ccbill. epoch has also been the main processor for such small unknown programs as topbucks.

and btw, visa doesn't go in to the bank manager with lube - as i understand it, visa is a group of banks working together and making decisions that work for them.

Actually, I'd forgotten about this, but there was a book I read years ago on management theory based on the VISA cardmember association, which is described as a unique "chaord", an association of banks that found a way to take the chaos of a normal group of businesses with disparate policies and combine them in a way that works.

The excellent book "One from Many: Visa and the rise of the chaordic organization" describes how this unique organzation actually operates and applies many of the principles to management in the 21st century.
