Okay, at first I thought the "stealing the guy from another guy" thing had been posted all in fun.

Oh, it was. Jasun and I talked about it at the show, and there are no hard feelings. He was drunk and horny and the guy WAS hot. I was just being snarky.

I think, If a "drunken asswipe" can remove someone of "great rapport" then the "developing" was not to his fancy. Or your hopes.

Honestly, my comment in this thread regarding Jasun was ALL in good fun (we've already laughed about it, and he WAS pretty drunk that night, to be fair), but outside of that incident, I have to take exception to this statement.

One of my big problems with gay men is the increasingly prevalent lack of respect that they show to their fellow man when it comes to sexual conquests. I can't tell you how many times I go out to bars with a friend, and some dude will come up and totally ignore that I'm there and make a pass at the guy I'm with, without even asking if we are together first. I mean, what if the guy had been my date, or my boyfriend, or my life partner?

If I see a hot gay guy talking to another guy, I may go over and introduce myself, but I ALWAYS feel out the situation first or just come out and ask if they are dating. I would never presume to think that the guy is fair game. Nor would I come on to a guy that a friend of mine has expressed interest in. (Cock-blocking is, in fact, a cardinal sin in my books.)

This is behavior that I see taking place in the gay community all the time, and it really unnerves me. Can we get Miss Manners to come in and teach these gay men a lesson in tact?

Ahem, I'm missing from your "club" shots - I do recall spending at least 4 or 5 hours with your "club" but I guess since I didn't climb the mountain (I didn't pack my hiking heels) I can't be part of the "club"!

The Forum was wonderful! I got to go at the last minute and was so happy to be there! AND, I was a total trooper - I partied! I don't usually party as hard as I did at this one and that (to me) is proof of how awesome it really was.

Got off a plane at 11pm, checked into the hotel and then did all three gay freak-outs that night! Ooh, 26-hour day baby and it was fine!

I was thrilled to see so many of our community there, and I even met some awesome people on the straight side.

Highlights for me:
1) Hanging with Ken and "the club" on the last night, drinking V&T
2) Dinner with the fab crew of Pride Studios
3) Panelling with Lisa from BadPuppy (Luv U Girl)
4) Watching Warren get really, really, really trashed on the last night...
5) Seeing everyone who was able to pick up and join the party at the last moment.
6) An hour or two with CCBill's gorgeous Gary Jackson, sadly clothed but I can dream... Oh yeah, and Lee was there two which also put a damper on my fantasy!
7) Meeting Mick and Griffith (Ken is totally right!)

LOL! That pic was taken long after you'd snuck off to bed, Mary, but "the club" is an in-joke for the four of us (and Ryan Sharrah). But you can be an honorary member!

Just wish these folks would touch on some of the stuff that I think is really important about the industry: the social aspects of it and difference of doing it for money versus love.

Ken i pretty much agree with you on this.

Personally i loved the seminar overall but i hated the '5 question' format because it really did limit the amount of stuff we could talk about on the panel, most of which seemed to be dominated by DRM, privacy, spyware and adware and well, imho, whilst those are good topics of discussion for a 'content' panel, the SOTE panel could have been so much better in terms of what was actually talked about.

Invite only affiliate programs which are launching all over the place.
Changes in payouts and billing models that are currently going on.
Changes in how content is evolving.
New sources of traffic, that werent mentioned on the traffic seminar.
Etc, etc, etc.

But, the audience walked away with a few good bits of information that they didnt already know at least so im sure the panel was well liked by the attendees for that alone.

But yeah, i just wish the format was a little different.

Wow, Lee. We're thinking on the same page for once. I came up with several ideas for seminars while sitting there thinking that I wasn't hearing the stuff that I thought was interesting, and a few of them are exactly in line with your suggestions above. I turned all my seminar suggestions in yesterday; hopefully they will take the bait and schedule one or two of them.
