Video On Demand Is Definitely In Demand.

Most webmasters are knowledgeable when it comes to promoting products and pay site memberships however, for whatever reason, a lot of affiliates still don't understand the best way to promote the VOD offerings from their sponsors and, despite trying a wide range of methods to promote these types of service, still fail to make anything more than pocket change from some one of the best money making business models in the industry.

Video On Demand + Pay Per View.

VOD (Video On Demand) and PPV (Pay Per View) have really only come in to their own in the adult industry over the past 2 years, with company upon company launching their own VOD sites or private label services from providers such as MaleFlixxx and XOnDemand. Whilst many look at the amount of money that VOD memberships will actually make them in the short term, the best methods of looking at these figures is in the long term, just as it should be when marketing such services.

PPV + VOD - The Primary Mistake Webmasters Make.

Many adult webmasters, because they aren't used to promoting video on demand products don't understand the differences between marketing pay per view services and 'memberships' and in fact, this is the primary mistake everyone makes, they look at what they are doing to make money from their pay site sponsors and duplicate these marketing efforts for VOD sites. Whilst this does work to some extent, simply putting a banner and a line or two of marketing text isn't going to make you the money that a lot of the VOD pro's are currently making.

Promoting Video On Demand - The Basics.

The one things you need to remember more than anything else about VOD and PPV sites, is that the type of surfer you are catering to, for all intents and purposes is a connoisseur of porn, they want to see porn, they know what they are looking for and more importantly, they know how much they want to pay for it. Because of this, one of the best methods of promoting VOD sites is to use some kind of updated Java or RSS feed instead of a 'regular' banner or button. This serves two purposes, the first being that it is updated on a regular basis and YOU don't have to worry about changing the ad out yourself, the second being the surfer ALWAYS sees the latest offerings of the VOD company you are using, meaning that you stand a much better chance of having them signup, than one of your competitors using a regular button or banner.

Pay Per View Sites - Ad Placements.

As with any type of product you are marketing, where you place your promotional materials is just as important as what promo tools you use, remember that the bottom right of any given web page is automatically going to get more views than the absolute center of the web page, which will get more views than the top left of any web page. As you read any web page on the web, your eyes will automatically go from the top left of the page, to the bottom right of the page, this is human nature and should be considered when placing your ads on your pages. Over the past couple of years I have actually found that placing VOD site ads in the middle of a page seems to work best, with better clickthrus being achieved when a regularly updated JavaScript ad is used over a button or banner. That being said, everyone's sites are different so you might find you get better results placing your ads on the left hand side of the page or even right at the bottom, whatever you decide to do, make sure that you use trial and error the first few weeks whilst placing your ads, change them about to get a better idea of what works for YOUR surfers.

Video On Demand Profits - Long Term Thinking.

I touched upon this a little while ago, profits from VOD sites aren't initially as large as those offered by pay site affiliate programs, for this reason a lot of webmasters simply ignore PPV as a solid product to promote however, that is their loss. I actually have VOD members that regularly buy more viewing credits that joined XOnDemand over 18 months ago, and whilst I'm only making 25% of each sale, these members have actually made me more money than they would have had I sent them to a PPS site to join, if they would have joined it at all. Regularly updated VOD sites are a must, ask your chosen VOD sponsor for a few free credits to check out their service, take a look at the niches you want to promote then, a week or two later, take another look, have the titles being shown changed? Have they added more studios? Has the page layout changed at all? These are the main 3 factors that you need to consider when choosing a VOD provider, if the on demand site isn't changing each time the surfer logs in to buy (or use) more credits, why will they stick around?

    Pay Per View Marketing Overview.

Whilst on demand video providers certainly pay less than their pay site program counterparts, if you choose a VOD solution based on how often they update, what sort of product line they have and how accommodating they are in terms of letting you check out their theatres and the promo tools they provide you, you can actually end up making a lot more money from a VOD customer than some of the large PPS programs. The main drawback of PPV programs is that it takes a while to build up a solid base of loyal customers to the services however, once you have the solid base built, it will yield income for months or even years to come. Check out some of the larger VOD/PPV companies today and see how they can help you add more money to your bottom line profits.
