This is actually one topic I was excited about because there are many aspects and viewpoints that ALL can be argued even though they are different. It's a very subjective topic.
Agreed on this part. Which is why I did debate "quality content" with Max. I actually think there can be something to be learned throughout those exchanges as well. Whether or not you agree with me or Max about the tenets of "good content," being exposed to two opposing opinions is often a great way to reaffirm your OWN POV about any given topic.

Interesting thread, with many aspects. If I may comment on the original question, to me it's definitely about the storyline and fantasy element. I have joined paysites before when they triggered a special something for me. I am also seeing which sites convert the best for me.

I am talking straight sites here, but I imagine the same would be true for gay sites too. It is never an issue of lighting or setting, or how pretty the models were. I have seen sites that had the technical aspects polished up to the point of perfection. Point in case, sites like Hardcore Babes or Me and My Pussy by Platinum Bucks. They have absolutely gorgeous girls, very well shot porn, in terms of lighting, setting, shooting angles, you name it. You can see the movies were shot by pros. Then take a site like NetpondCash (now Cash Uncovered) with their Dogging site. Nothing wrong with the quality of the shooting there, it's perfect for the night time dogging atmosphere they want to create, but they also have that extra angle, that fantasy edge, that story telling of something wonderful and bizzare.

Oh, this is, of course, very true, but still, the tenets of good storytelling -- or even just of good adult content -- are very much the same. You still need to have a viable scenario, include good, REAL sex, and treat your audience as if they have brains.

Whereas in filmed content, lighting is key, but in written content, you can "illuminate" the action by which words you use or a simple turn of phrase. In writing, they always say, "Show, don't tell," which means that you present action instead of descriptions of the action, which is much like filmed content.

Yes, there is more freedom for the reader to use their imagination when they are dealing with stroke fiction, but in film, there is more opportunity for the FILMMAKER to use HIS/HER imagination, which is, frankly, what a lot of today's porn content is lacking. Imagination is key. If you aren't using yours, what are you offering that is different than what anybody else is offering?

Only content I've produced is written stuff. And you XXX, have more experience than me in writing and in the bedroom to add to your stories so I don't know how much of my opinion matters. But here's my .02 ^_^

I find that if you give the basic descriptions of the main characters, people can form their own sexual fantasy man from the story. Since everyone's idea is a bit different from person to person. My main way of writing is to describe several things.

    Hair Color/Length
    Nationality
Body Build (nothing really specific, sports refernces help)
    Eye color
    And height.

Cock size is always mentioned but I franky think the other things are more important to visualizing a sexy man.

A tall silken black haired hispanic with eyes so deep and black they lead you around the dance floor more than his warm firm body does.

That could be a lot of different men to some people. And its even better for those that know a real guy who looks like that and can place him into the story (if he has the hots and all). I've never liked original stories that give too many details as it takes the fun out of imagining the fantasy, cause thats what content is, its fantasy. None of it is real but it should make the viewer feel something real in their pants and minds.
