Tips for Creating Killer Content???

I just don't buy into the argument that quality is not important to the surfer and that just because he gives you only a short attention span that you can get away with giving him less than a quality product.

Porn is just like any other product produced by any other company. You give them a crappy product and they will not come back to buy again and they will tell others....your worst marketing nightmare....negative viral advertising. You give them a good quality product and they will not only come back again, but they will also tell others.... your best marketing tool...positive viral marketing.

Your quality is a part of your brand. if you want your brand to be lost in the pack by delivering so so quality, then go for it. But if you want your brand to stand out, to be remembered, to have retention, to have good positive word of mouth, to have good repeat customer traffic...you gotta give them the good stuff.

Quality is important to a point, but can be taken to far people really just want the illusion of constant updates more than anything. Porn normally does not get good “word of mouth” people do not really talk to others about what site they look at even in the live cam chats its a really hush hush subject. I personally think getting them to join in the first place is the hardest thing, after that even if they do not love everything about your site they now trust you, and alot of times will rejoin to see your updates just because they do not want to risk the unknown with another site.

this conversation has caused a question to surface in my mind.

For those of you that are really good with filtering traffic, that know all the nuances of traffic control for porn sites, have you ever used content as a psychological traffic control? The theory would be that on sites you want them to exit or go to a sponsor that has known good content, you give them medium or lower value content just to get them to exit to the higher value content, and conversely, on sites you want them to stay, giving them the higher value or quality of content?

Has anyone ever done this as a traffic filtering mechanism?

Quality can be defined in many different ways. An amateur site with awesome "studio shots" is not quality. Quality has to match the niche. A voyeur site from a hidden cam with 1600 by 1000 images is not quality.

But I agree that you need a quality product based on what you are trying to accomplish...

You should know not to trust surveys, allot of times people say what they think you want to hear not the truth. I know this from seeing what they do just think about it, would you u rather have a few high quality exclusive videos that update every month or a huge amount of lower quality non exclusive stuff that updates almost every day with that all important NEW word next to it? Its a good idea to do a good job on your content but look a Body Shope or Club Amateur Usa their stuff sucks as far as quality and mostly not exclusive but people eat that stuff up, I would say that stuff is the most popular other than some realty feeds like Twink For Cash that suck too.

I'd agree that navigation is definately up there ... I've refused to even review some sites til they fixed their navigation issues ... and I know some of you can attest to that!

Well I just put that so far down on the list because it is a really simple thing, and to tell the truth I was more talking about a supped up one, like being able to keep your favorite videos/ images, search content stuff like that. I guess it was confusing, yet still if that is the big problem I guess I can live with that it was really to show many things are more important that just super high quality films, it is hard sometimes to put your self out their and if that is the big whacking point I guess I have to be happy with it.

You should know not to trust surveys

You should trust your numbers (conversion/retention/profit, what members tell you, and what others you trust tell you. BUT only people you trust. Many people in this industry divide by 2 or 3 what they say for numbers, but not all.

As far as navigation/site usability there MANY stats out there. How far a viewer will scroll, how many links he will visit of a page, load times, navigation. There are courses on this topic.....

I never said that good lighting, some kind of a believable theme, editing, and good models were not very important, its just when you start to add your personally agenda, or buying into your own BS and start believing you are creating anything more that something for people to whack-off too, that I start to have a bit of a problem, but hey do what ya want. As a teen, seeing two men having sex onscreen for the very first time changed my life. It gave me a context in which to place my sexuality, and I no longer felt like wanting to have sex with another guy was out of the realm of possibility. It shaped my perceptions of a community I knew nothing about. It helped me accept who I was.

Though it has been changing over recent years, for a long time the only place that gay men could see themselves reflected was in adult content. Certainly not in movies or on TV, unless they were portrayed as stereotypical pariahs. Porn gives gay men a forum in which to see other (supposedly) gay men acting out their fantasies and living openly gay lives. There is an HUGE sociological context that porn has been placed in by many psychologists. So, you might THINK that some of what I'm talking about is, as you put it, "B.S.," but I assure you, from personal experience alone, I know what I'm talking about.

You talk of how people are influenced by images, and you're right about that. Images are very powerful. So if you give people images of sexuality that are well-done, erotic and portray the subjects in a positive light, that can only lead to good things, as far as I'm concerned.
