600$ for Yahoo Directory listing, worth it?

Hi guys

I'm just wondering if anyone here paid the 600$ for a Yahoo directory listing (I know you don't buy the listíng actually but pay for them to check if they list your site....).

Has anyone paid those 600$ and can tell us if it was worth the money?

Did it improve your google PR much and drive traffic directly into your sites?

What kind of site did you pay for (paysite, tgp...)?

Years and years ago i beleive we did pay for inclusion in the Yahoo directory for Garys old ClassicMale website and it did quite well but after a few years it just wasnt worth the renewal fee as more and more of the organic search engines picked up in traffic.

I think $600 to be included in something, that isnt actually a guarantee you will get listed anyway is a little to expensive these days.

I paid more than that last year for another business I was running. I paid AU$1100. Business wise, it was maybe the biggest waste of money I have ever been responsible for. there are much more cost effective ways these days to drive traffic to your site than a listing somewhere.:thumbsup:

You'd be better off spending the $600 on yahoo PPC advertising.

I thought it could be a good investment (longtime) because of PR and so on but maybe buying some feeder for those 600$ is much better...

Write your URL on 600 $1.00 bills and toss them in the air. Probably better results. IMHO.
