Change in Host Affect SE Ratings

    Hi!

I have a site that is usually ranked 1-3 on Google for certain keywords and I have spent a fair bit of time etc getting it that way.

If I change hosting providers - and therefore get a new IP address, will this change anything in my SEO listings etc?

    Thanks
    Ernie

Provided the new host is in the same country as the old host, and the other sites on the same IP address aren't spammy, there shouldn't be any effect.

    Hi!

Yes both hosts are in the same country (Australia) and the site has a dedicated IP address for SSL.

    Hopefully it should be OK!

    Thanks for the advice

I just wanted to confirm what was already said. I checked with the owner
of searchenginewatch.com and a couple of other top experts, then I asked
a couple of the search engines. All agreed - changing IPs or hosts will
have no effect. The exception, as mentioned, would be getting on the
same IP block as one of the very worst spammers who have been manually
blacklisted by Google or some other engine.

Make sure though to also check for any 404 errors.

I've seen lots of clients who changed pages and didn't think to do a 301 redirect so pages with rankings drop out which hurts the whole site.
