Brian's Nifty Bit O' Software Of The Day
PRCView
Really awesome little toy that I've been in love with for a good long while. It's essentially like the CTRL-ALT-DEL / Task Manager feature on Windows. Shows you all the processes you have running on your system if you're an MS Windows OS user. However, unlike the Windows task manager, PRCView actually shows you everything. In an easier to view format.
With Windows task manager there are a good number of programs that don't actually show up. Some programs cloak themselves or ghost the fact that they're active. PRCView lets you see them all so you always know what your system is up to and if there are any unauthorized programs active and running. Such as trojans or spyware.
Then it lets you kill it or shut it down.
It's a small program, takes up almost no resources at all, and you can either check it out now and then or leave it up and running to always have readily available what's up on your system.
Just thought I'd share it with you all! :groovy:

This
is the most comprehensive list of processes I've come across. Alphabetically sorted by how they show up on your task manager or in PRCView. Unfortunately that site gets overloaded all the time so you have to keep checking back to see if the page is available. If you want me to email you the list I can do that too. It's a big file though, hehe.
