    Newsgroup Posting

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there are any GENERAL gay binary newsgroups to post in besides 'alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.gaymen' and 'alt.binaries.erotica.male'?

Apart from testing myself is there another way to find out which groups work well?

    Cheers,

    Rik.

hrm can't say i know a whole helluva lot about the general newsgroups. to be honest, though it is a service we offer to clients, i despise posting in newsgroups. such a time consumimg process that demands constant attention to trivial routine with ehhhhhhh results.

just in my experience, at least. i know of some people who've built their entire traffic base off of newsgroup campaigns.

but yeah... can't say I know much about what would be the worthwhile ones to post in.

News group posting does work but you have to have a unique product you're selling. Last time I tried it with a TGP site, a pay site and a link list and it did little.

It's not like it used to be, and you have to do the testing yourself to be sure.

Now yahoo groups and other sites like them are fun places to play with. They seem to respond well, as long as it's an open forum and post aren't being moderated before they are added.

You can get very niche specific with them, as well.

    My two cents

I looooooove Yahoo! groups. Not so much now after they put all these darn restrictions in place. That nipped me in the hiney. But they're still a useful place to have a presence, indeed.

True, but as a member of a group you can get your product or site noticed if you do it right - make your approach personal and avoid something that sounds "spammy" LOL

I've found that the people who even know about Newsgroups will totally refuse to even look at commercial messages, since there's so much free porn to be had right there. It's pretty easy to cherry pick on alt.binaries.men.gay.

And on top of that, the whole usenet, while still hopping busy, is something that the average web surfer has absolutely no idea about. Most people don't know it exists, let alone know how to use it. On the occasion it comes up in conversation, I more often than not get blank stares and requests for the "Site Address".

I've found that my response from Newsgroups has been iff at best. Oddly enough, the response I get from Yahoo and MSN groups is far better. It seems to depend on what you're objective is.
