Google has launched a new campaign aimed at educating naughty YouTube uploaders to respect copyright laws. The campaign features a cartoon pirate squirrel called Russel.

Russel is very confused as to why he shouldn't upload certain types of content, but the video goes on to explain the difference and encourages Russel to upload his own user-generated content instead.

Google says its long term goal is to eliminate all illegal content on YouTube and have a library of content that is all user-generated. This is a great first step, now lets hope that this is just the beginning of Google's efforts!
