    Turning Pirates into Affiliates!

We've been speaking one on one privately to privately owned blogs through blogspot, blogger, and their own hosted blogs.

We've sent them emails telling them briefly about the illegal acts they're depicting on the internet, what could happen to them if they hosted the wrong producers content (without naming producers).

For sites such as BestExclusivePorn (dot) com, we've suggested to them to monetize their traffic, how to do it, etc.

We know we can't completely fight them short term. However, if you can't win it why not join them. We've suggested to them to stop pirating and join affiliate programs and make money.

In a sense this is wrong. We feel this may stop some of them. We feel once they earn their first sale with a sponsor, they'll say, "Wait a minute! I'm really making money! Let's keep doing it this way!"
We are urging them to remove the content entirely, start their site all over on a fresh start.

We think we've been successful for two sites!
Pumpingjack.thumbblogger (dot) com has said he wants to give it a shot. This guy has been a 4yr pirate - that we know about, could be longer. If we can make a change with him, that will help!

I'm sure some will argue with us. Not all of us can issue DMCA's because we don't own the content. Until those producers act on it, the site will exist. In the meantime we feel this is an effort towards change and bring consumers back.

    What are your thoughts?

No its not wrong.. Truly its the only way you will win in the long run.

As I posted in the other thread. Piracy has been around since the begenning of time and we wont stop it either. But we might be able to control some of it and profit at the same time.

As for sites on Thumblogger. If you notify them they will terminate the account. Its the ones on their own domains and hosting that you end up having to work with.

I actually think this is a good idea too, if you can stop them from pirating by getting them to become an affiliate and earn a bit of cash on the side, then its win-win. Course, I suspect that most of these will have to be closely monitored to ensure they don't go back to their old ways.

I was working with AShemaletube for a while and they were doing OK as an affiliate. Got some shit about it from a lot of others so I stopped submitting to them. sadly people still upload our content.

Good thing is I can send them an informal mail without the Dmca and they remove the videos right away.

One of the things they told me when I first talked with them was the site and traffic were built with long videos ( stolen ) and that they were working to get rid of the long ones but that is what brought in the traffic.

They still have most of the long ones but they now also have a HUGE number of submitted 3 min videos.

Because we don't get any kick backs from anyone, everything we're doing is 100% non-profit. We're taking this motive to compensate for our time, etc. What we want to do is provide these piraters with an area (still in development) on CombatPiracyNow.com where they can signup through different programs. We need a list of programs that offer webmaster referral payouts so that we can provide extensive tools to these guys to hopefully turn piracy into legal profit. If you guys can help me with that, it'd be awesome.

Good plan! We have webmaster referral payouts on all 3 of our programs HunkMoney, BritishBucks and LatinoBucks. Do you have accounts on all 3? If not, PM me and I will give you the direct signup links and get your accounts approved asap.

    We're already an affiliate

Just today, we've emailed about 20 blog "owners" and have extended our offering to them.

The only issue with this move is the site owners are very non-understanding of how affiliate programs work. It takes a lot of talking to them hands on and guiding them step by step on how to promote them rather than pirate them. The feeling with this movement is frusterating because they don't understand. It's like teaching a baby how to walk.

It's certainly not easy and we have to understand the level they are on to relate to them and somewhat step down to their level. In a sense we're manipulating them, but it is working. The word money can make a difference.

But the traffic those pirate sites have doesn't convert, right? It's shit traffic as those visitors don't want to spend money, they want everything for free. So isn't it a waste of time trying to turn them into affiliates?

Let me ask you this... Would you rather have someone pirating your content, or someone who's trying to end their pirated site and turn it into a monetized site and not pirating?
Even if they make no money but make a few bucks is more than what they're making or earning now. And maybe later in the long run they'll begin making serious cash. Even if they don't send 1 sale but several dozen clicks or even one click is better than nothing and giving away free porn.

Shouldn't it be a mixed strategy - as in, taking some of the pirates out completely if possible, and making them pay, and selecting some to bring into the fold as affiliates, while watching them for compliance?

Random reinforcement theory suggests that if you mix the stick and the carrot you will get better results overall.

If everyone gets the impresson piracy just gets you selected to be an affiliate, without consequences, the logical thing to do would be to just create more pirate sites, expecting to be approached and monetized.

So you have to destroy some of them to modify the behavior effectively.

    Great tools!

    Update:
We've gotten 2 pirate sites to remove pirated content and have successfully turned them into affiliated sites! 2 down, thousands to go!

In the past week, we've successfully gotten 2 sites down. 2 sites turned into affiliates.
We are monitoring these sites hard! We're working with them hands on. I do not want to post the sites or inform you of the sites at this time. There are producers who are against this effort. I want to prove these producers wrong. If I lose sleep over it, oh well there's 5 hour energy out there on the market!

I have a good feeling about these sites. One had no clue he was commiting piracy and felt no harm in it. Once I informed him and showed him the evidence of how illegal it is to run a pirate site, he was shocked and in a matter of 8 hours, he had EVERYTHING removed from his blog and started over new! CONGRATS TO HIM! The second had the "I don't care" attitude. It took about 4 straight hours daily for 3 days of conversation with him, but it was successful. His beef was that he's worked so hard to put the content up there, upload to filesmonster, etc. that he didn't want to lose out on. But it was successful.
