Twitpic alternatives?

So Twitpic shut down our account without any notice or comment. What are you guys using to add pictures to your tweets? And what works as easy as Twitpic does? I've seen some tweets linking to Flickr but I'm actually not too happy about having to upload the pictures first instead of directly linking them on our server. Or do I misunderstand the concept of Flickr?

It's the same as Flickr, right? You would have to upload the pic first or not? The great thing about Twitpic was that you could just link to a pic on your own site.

You don't need to upload pics to Yfrog.

Just tried pic.ly and it's off the list. Here's what they say:

"Sorry folks, we had to shut down pip.ly because of a bunch of ass-hole spammers. Because the spammers were creating many links to pharma sites and porn our host threatened to shut us down if we didn't stop them. Unfortunetely, we don't have the resources to fight these guys and keep our free service going."

That's good news. Most of the other services don't allow links to adult sites in their TOS, so even if you post only R-rated pics, they will kick you when you link to your site.

There are ways to work around it, but I guess at the end it requires more time and effort than it's worth.

When you upload to those sites you're often giving up your copyright to the image. Better to link to the image on your site.

...any image uploaded that is pornographic or offensive in nature (including nudity, violence, sexual acts, or sexually provocative images.)...[snip]...will be immediately deleted and the IP address of the uploaded reported to authorities.

I would not call those terms "adult friendly" but the opposite, and I'd be rather wary to use a service that threatens you will be "reported to authorities" for something they might not like.

Wow... I didn't read that - I just judged from URL/sitename and the content... maybe that's just boilerplate with whatever script they're using.

They even have a way to check-mark the image as explicit or not - somehow I doubt that's so you can flag yourself to the authorities...
