    [ NAKEDSWORD ] Stalker Mail

Alright - so I've been a member of the adult industry for going on 14 years now and very few things catch me off guard anymore, but today was an interesting day.

When I got home from work, there was a package at my door - nothing out of the routine there. It was addressed to my name but an old address that I hadn't lived at in 8 years. So that was odd, but ok, things happen. I open the priority-mail package to find a shrink-wrapped dvd of STALKER by Naked Sword with a piece of notebook paper and in black sharpie read -

"Ethan, I am wathcing your EVERY move. X, your Stalker"

Yes, "watching" was misspelled and underlined. So my question is, is this a creative marketing strategy by the minds at Naked Sword or is this something more concerning?

That is odd. Is that a new DVD by Naked Sword? If so may be marketing, especially if they ever had your old address. I would contact them and if they say they didn't send it then I would contact the police for sure.

One night about 20 years ago I got home with my partner after a night out. We played the messages on the answering machine and one message was someone screaming abuse at us down the 'phone. Later it turned out it was one of the people we had been out with and he was doing this as a "joke". But neither of us recognised his voice at the time. We had received a threatening anonymous phone call some time previously, which he probably didn't know about, and this answer machine message unsettled us.

I understand how you must feel and I really can't imagine any company would do this as a marketing campaign.

Alright, now that we know it was a marketing campaign, it is pretty funny.

I don't know what the rules are in the US but I'm certain this would be against advertising standards in the UK and if a customer complained to the police I think things could get rather nasty. So wouldn't recommend it!

Yes, it's one thing to produce a DVD that plays with this sensitive topic, but it's a different story to send this to people as a marketing campaign. I'm surprised that this kind of marketing campaign is even possible in the US. I mean if you send this to somebody who's been actually stalked before, I'm sure that person could sue the company for damages big time. Just needs a doctor and one of those lawyers that happily claim millions and millions for even the stupidest things people do.

Very VERY STUPID marketing campaign! Whoever is responsible for that idea should be terminated immediately!

Wow...I don't know what to say about this, other than I think the best course of action would have been to inform you about this first Ethan. What a distressing situation this must have been to experience. At least you found out what was going on. Creepy marketing strategy for sure. Especially considering how dangerous life can be in the US at times. I wouldn't be too impressed, that's for sure.

Glad you got it figured out
