    Learn English

www.AdultBizEnglish.com - is dedicated to teaching English to people in the adult biz - models, production, office, sales, executives. It would be great if everyone in the adult biz in Europe, Asia and South America spoke English as well as others do. Please let your clients and colleagues know that we stand ready to Teach them!

English is the common language of business. English as a second language. Most companies know that in order to do better business, their staff need better English speaking and writing skills.

Our on-line English courses are one-month long, one-hour per day, five days per week. The lessons are practical, visual, with pictures and videos. It is all about hearing and speaking English, as well as reading and writing English. On-line, the students can always go back and review "yesterday's" grammar and vocabulary.

Our Introductory English course is designed for everyone. All the basic grammar - and pronunciation of grammar words. And, great practical vocabulary words. We also have Advanced and Business English courses. All of our courses are on-line, with daily lessons, which include weekly 1:1 training time via cam - desktop, tablet, mobile phone, which is about speaking and confidence building.

Also available is 1:1 coaching and practice for busy professionals, where we spend 1:1 phone or webcam time with professionals, working with them on their speaking and writing skills. Ask how to speak English better, and we will work with you on grammar, vocabulary words and pronunciation.

We also proofread websites that have been translated into English locally.

www.AdultBizEnglish.com - has just added a separate course for Accent Reduction!

Maybe your staff knows English, but their accent gets in the way of good communication. www.AdultBizEnglish.com also offera an Accent Reduction course!

It is one thing to know English vocabulary and grammar, but quite another thing to pronounce words, so that others can understand them. Each of the vowels are pronounced differently in English than in most other languages. As are many consonants. And, make sure you pronounce the final "s", when a word is plural!

When you have a word with more than one syllable, do you emphasize, or stress, the first, or the second, or the third?

Students will know, when they take the AdultBizEnglish.com Accent Reduction course.

If you are not a native English speaker, you might want to take the Accent Reduction course!

Knowing a bunch of English words, is not the same as knowing English! Just ask any native English speaker about their experiences with call centers in third-world countries.

In the www.AdultBizEnglish.com Accent Reduction course, you have four weeks of practice with pronunciations of words, listening, speaking, and reading.

Just out of curiousity, but how different is this from the IELTS materials?
Though I understand the IELTS review exams takes into account other native-English speaker accents not just American, but also British, Scot, Irish and Australian. But the Accent Reduction course should emphasize the written or internet website grammar, is that correct?

Absolutely! To me, Accent Reduction is not just about the voice used in speaking, the native country voice being made more American or more British, it is about varying the tone of voice to fit the purpose of the sentence, verbally and in writing!

English is different from many world languages, in that adjectives come before nouns, the words they describe, not after. It is also different in the use of "Articles" (a, an, the) to highlight content words we are trying to use or describe, as well as other reference placement words like those and that, and helper words like prepositions (on, over, under), that give the position of a noun after being handled by the verb in the sentence. "This porn star shot his load on the lips of that porn star".

It is also different in that mood, excitement, joy, anger, grief, and questions are expressed as much in tone of voice as in words.

Accent Reduction, therefore, is not only about trying to soften harsher voices like from eastern Europe, or the elite sing-song India/Pakistan, or even the soft east Asian. but also about arranging grammar words in the right order, and making the tone of voice fit the purpose of the sentence.

I bought some content the other day, shot in eastern Europe. It begins with an "interview". The director says, in a harsh, flat tone of voice: "Please, what is your name".

In English, when we ask that type of personal, introduction question, we use a warmer, softer, friendlier tone of voice, with a rising intonation. We don't say "Please," rather we raise the pitch of our voice to indicate a question, and soften the request words.

"Hi, What is your name?", with the words "your" and "name" having a higher pitch (question) and stress (those two words being said slower and longer than the other words).

We are asking a personal question, this isn't the Spanish Inquisition!

Accent Reduction is both verbal and written. We work on both, over the four-week course. In much more detail than can be summarized in a few short sentences here.

Thanks for bringing up the importance of using language to improve one's business.
