What are some non twink fetishes that do well

Everything is twink twink twink, BUT when I tried to promote a bear site it did terrible, like 1:1500.

Is there anything out there that makes a killing that isn't twinks?

I'm asking because I want to start an amateur gay site but I want something different and unique

I actually avoid twinks cause there are so many out there. Suprised to hear you did badly with bears. I do pretty well with that as well as military. My top converting niches are:
    facials
    mature
    bears
    ebony
I'd say stay away from twinks. Oh and you didnt ask for sponsor but I do well with these niches at top bucks

I know I should leave my referal link but I dont want to spam

    Hey Marc!

Just as a fast FYI here is a link to an article we have on niches...

    http://www.gaywidewebmasters.com/gay...che_list.shtml

I agree with you about twinks twinks twinks... It's a big niche but not everyone likes their guys young or young(ish). I had an argument once with a few big affiliate program owners and told them our surfers wanted far more than just the young dick. They had thought all gay surfers were looking for young boys to play with. After quelling the desire to punch them all, I had the chance to explain we want more,

My opinion... if you're going to move toward gay amateurs, you're moving in the right direction. you can encompass a lot of great new sites that have and are emerging including the cam sites and straight guys go gay type. They are big sellers right now.

Are you going to be the amateur for your sites or will you be creating sites with gay amateurs content in general? I'm asking out of curiosity – because the approach you take can make difference from what I’ve done in the past. YEARS ago I ran a site called Jake’s Amateur Men and it did great even without the vast choices of sponsor sites we have to sell today.

    Regards,
    Gary-Alan

I would have to agree pretty much with Shelmal.

Twinks have been sold, sold and over-sold so much.

That said, there is still money to be made in that niche but, the REAL money is in the sub-niches.

Twinks with tatoos, blonde twinks, ebony twinks etc etc etc.

In fact one of the VERY FIRST things Gary taught me was to 'micro niche' my sites.

Look at your sponsors tour and see what other information you can gleam from it, sure we all know what a twink is (or at least most of us do ) but by taking a paysite tour for example the ARS Breathless Boys tour, youll soon discover a whole heap of other 'micro niches' that you can market, guys in briefs, toys, dating etc etc.

As with Shelmal, i also have some good results on the Bear sites and i know we do extremely well with both ARS and Topbucks so much so that Gary is in the process of making a heap of micro niched BYOT's for ars.

Anyway, i guess what im saying is look at the tours dont stick tot he conventional main niches but go deeper than that twinks are easy to find but twinks in briefs are not so abundant

    Regards,

    Lee

Thats really interesting and thanks for sharing your tips.
I do well with Topbucks too.

My best are muscle, movies and facials. I did so bad with bears, military and asian I stopped trying to sell them completely. I do ok with ebony, not great.

I've been at this for a year and a half mostly promoting straight sites and promoting gay part time, well after looking at my numbers I've decided to promote gay only, so I'm a little bit nervous to take my business plan that was working already and change it.

    Just some questions:

    1. Do you promote top bucks per sign up or partnership program?
I promote per sign up but I'm starting to think long term and was thinking of switching to partnership, but I dont know how well their sites retain.

    2. Do you think gay surfers like the word "amateur" in a domain name? I'm guessing not because they might think it means ugly and out of shape. And dont take offense as I'm pretty ugly and out of shape myself

Boys first time is supposedly an amateur site, and it did really well, but the name amateur isn't in the title. Do you think it matters?

And here are some answers, Marc...

    1. Do you promote top bucks per sign up or partnership program?
Personally, I do per signup. But this totally depends on how comfortable you are with you sponsors and their ability to retain the members. TB does well with this. I'll be honest, there was a time I would only do partnership but with the influx of all the new products so many sites have a hard time retaining. For me, once the market changed a little I went to persignup and it's just a business habit at this point. This is my business view and not everyones. So chime in if you have another point of view here = )

    2. Do you think gay surfers like the word amateur in a domain name?
Boys first time is supposedly an amateur site, and it did really well, but the name amateur isn't in the title. Do you think it matters?

Use the word amateur. I know what your saying, but believe me USE THE WORD AMATEUR LOL It makes your site keyword rich. Gay surfers search on that term A LOT. And the gay amateur niche is HOT HOT HOT right now. Surfers, know what they want from young guys to slobby fat amateurs LOL And in today's market the am's aren't slobs LMAO

    Really?

My only negative experience about promoting gay sites is the lack of traffic. The largest gay tgps get like 40k/day.

So if you microniche your sites arent you severly cutting down your audience?

I'm not trying to debate...I'm asking because I honestly dont know.

Microniching would make this soo easy with things like gay smoking fetich, gay uncut fetish, gay foot fetish etc, but in my mind that is like suicide because youre really slimming down your audience.

I can see where that would be good for rebills, but i'd think it'd be hard to get people in the door in the first place.

Gay men are so picky about our porn that in my mind you want to offer as much as you can.

When Im at the video store looking for vids to buy I'll scan the back of the video which usually had a bunch of guys on the back and I'll see the 1 guy that I HAVE to see on video and that makes me buy the video.
If the video cover only had a couple of models then I probably wont buy it.

that's just my experience, but if there is big success to be had with microniching then that makes this job a whooooooooole lot easier : )

    thoughts?
