    Cameras

When I was at the Creative Pro Super Meet during the annual NAB show here in Las Vegas last April...

The big buzz was the GoPro camera!

Designed as a rugged small fry for people wanting to strap a camera to their forehead while they did jackass stunts on their skateboards or bikes, and/or to shoot "B" Roll, I watched some GoPro footage be projected onto a massive theater screen!

I was at BestBuy today, and saw them on an end-cap. I had forgotten how inexpensive they are!

I will choose from HERO4 Black, with incredible high-resolution 4K30 and 2.7K50 video which pairs pro-quality video and photo capture with the convenience of a built-in touch display. Which one should I go for?

I was at Best Buy Friday night, and saw the GoPro cameras, plus the new line of Sony cameras mean't to compete.

I need to study both - because the final answer will be the file format of the video the cameras create.

To use in Final Cut Pro X or iMovie, the video needs to be one of several file formats that the industry has adopted.

Back in 2009, as Sony was putting out the AVCHD format, a lot of us had some changing to do.

I need to go do an e-mail right now, but will return to this in a few minutes.

    GoPro vs Sony 100

I hope that link works for those of you who don't use Chrome!!

The Sony has a remote control unit with viewfinder that straps to your arm - a wrist-watch combo!

The Sony is XAVC and mp4.

The GoPro is h.264 codec and the MP4 file type.

How does that work for you Final Cut Pro X and iMovie Editors?

I'm still doing AVCHD, after almost 10 years of .mov.

Are you suggesting GoPro cameras for porn shoots? I think that could work for a few shots. Definitely not good for a whole movie though.
