Should A Sites Members Area Be The Same Colors As The Sites Tour?

Im leaning towards the 'yes they should' option myself here but if you have a different view id love to hear it

My thinking is that if the tour matches the members area its going to create a more 'uniform' feel to the site overall, would you agree with that?

I never occured to me that it should be anything other than like your tour. I vote for uniform appearance.

Uniform is usually better I think. It depends on what I am looking for, buying etc. If the domain changes, or the layout, I am sometimes hesitant to actually stay on the site

Hmm, interesting as I believe that the inside should be even better than outside... after all a members area should have a lot more and therefore would need more gimmicks... in addition you have them inside, now you can razzle dazzle em with flash presentations (if properly & judiciously used/placed) and java navigation even such as drop down menus.. and so if going to those, you might need to fiddle the layout... but then I am weird and like things different.

For myself, I like to see the same basic colours but with different shades for different areas... I think that the tour is to inform.. to entice and hopefully make them come in to see the whole shebang.. a few little surprises & twists helps to make them think they made the right choice..

For example, video could have the enhanced super res inside but not on the tour.. added options like javascript menu's and such. I mean look at a department store, sure there is a basic theme or scheme to the layout but most departments have their own uniqueness to it, so too should a members area, least in my warped bizarre opinion.

I would add that inside you want things to keep them coming back, while say flash on the outside can effect your SEO and page loads, but inside those things aren't important. They have paid already.. so flash becomes more viable as an example...

it is nice but it is not necessary, after all they already paid and as long as they have easy access to their porn pics & vids they are usually happy.
