You echo what I was going to say. I don't think people are "fucking stupid" for asking about the best colors to promote a website. Using pink is too obvious and there are other colors that are associated with certain types of websites.
I've seen people here slam str8 webmasters who came here to ask about the "gay niche". To the str8 world, gay IS a niche. Hell, sponsors promote it that way and newbie webmasters learn it that way.
Years ago, virtually every gay website had a rainbow background, rainbow icon, something with a rainbow == to identify it as a gay website. Today, you don't see that very often.

Actually to the defense of the question itself, it was a valid one.
Many colors often portray several phsycological apsects to surfers when they are seen online so for example, using a mixture of reds and blacks on a fetish site would sell the site better than a mixture of blues and yellows.
In a similar manner to how varying shades of blue on a sites tour for a gay site at least for me, tends to convert sites better.
