You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

    Ive stolen this topic....

From one of our other forums because i wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

I saw an announcement on another board this morning by a major sponsor who is hosting a party at Sheri's ranch, nothing wrong with that I guess, but what really stunned me was that 50 webmasters with the most signups would get a free blowjob! I mean WTF?

I know we work in the adult industry but isn't this taking it a bit too far? Isn't that taking pimping to a whole new level?

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

That's pretty disgusting, and that's the part of this business I hate. Stuff like this gives us all a bad name.

We're selling sex and fantasy, but does that mean we have to be pigs, morons, users, and everything for a buck kind of people.

And it's hard sometimes because who am I to be judge and jury on someone else. If they want to offer free blowjobs, and they've got people willing to give and receive them, then have a blast.

But honest to God, some people just never think: can you imagine CNN or the Christian right getting a hold of that?

That's one of the reasons i never go to those parties... Ok we're in porn business... does it mean we have to fuck each other or suck clients' cocks? For some people, this business is a joke and a big party which i find ridiculous. The blow job thing is frankly a retard idea, surely coming from an idiot. Just my 2 cents.

    ......and I quote:
"Between December 14th and January 2nd, we will be giving away three free blowjob passes for the person who sends the most joins in a day for each of the next three weeks. This means that we will be giving away a free blowjob pass to the person who sends the most joins on a day between December 14th and December 20th, another to the person who sends the most joins between December 21nd to December 27th, and a third one to the webmaster who sends the most joins between December 28th and January 2nd. Winners will be notified. You can claim your prize by stopping by our booth and attending the January 6th party at Sheri's Ranch in Nye County, Nevada.".....

Geez, are people working the biz THAT desperate for traffic and business that they have to offer blowjobs for signups? I mean really!! Next thing you know, I will have to show my penis for click-throughs!! Oh wait I already did that once....

It just shows the lengths sponsors are willing to go in this biz to get attention from their affiliates. Let's hope that this doesn't happen at any of the gay programs.. Besides, the first rule of Internext is not to sleep with potential affiliates, current traffic brokers, TGP owners or business partners,; they may end up just stealing your traffic in the morning!:goof:

LMAOPIP 'Will ya respect me in the morning?' Comes to mind LOL

This is what I posted on FW, I wanted to share it here:

I think a lot of what’s going on is in direct response to the massive influx of younger, ‘gonna make a million’ webmasters that enter the industry daily. The tone of the industry has changed so much that it seems that some decided to direct a lot of their energy at this new breed of newbie.

I was thoroughly impressed by my first show in the fall of 1996. I was expecting decadence and depravity. It was my first show. What I got was a lesson in this business. While it was still an adult industry event, there was far more business discussed and handled than I thought was possible. These were all real companies coming together at a trade show - just as if I was walking the design expo in the Javitz Center or a printing expo in Denver. These were all real companies doing real business in a spirit of cooperation. Now this isn’t to say that those who have booths or sponsor parties at today’s events aren’t real companies, but the tone was entirely different.

Hell, the AVN show used to be held at DISNEY WORLD! That should tell you how low key we were LOL

Who remembers the hospitality suites? Where you would go and unwind with colleagues and friends? YNOT, National Net and others sponsored these places for a long time. And if someone came in with drugs, or hookers or other intentions they were politely asked to leave. These were places for business and light banter. What you did in your room or a club was your business we all had other things to do.

Up to three years ago, public content shoots were looked down upon. Now, they are scheduled events.

To me, at least, it looks like the ratio between real business people and the ‘I’m in adult to get laid’ has increased. It used to be we out numbered them. Now it seems they are equal to us. And some companies are focusing on that new ratio.

Up until two years ago, I would walk onto the show floor with my folio filled with appointments to business meetings, goals and objectives. Now, those are handled over the phone or in email. The large venues have become either a time to get away, or just moments to catch up with folks I haven’t seen for a while. The chances to do real business are far less likely than in the past.

There was also a time, when the protesters would come (in large numbers or just one person) and we could honestly say, “We’re not like that. We aren’t all doing what you think we are.” But now, it seems they are getting exactly what they expected. It’s only going to fuel their fires more as it’s made more and more public.

I’m behind the smaller venues, now. Any I have attended, I have come back with new ideas, new business and new possibilities. They remind me of that first show I attended. We were in the adult industry and we did grown up things, in our rooms. But by the light of day, we discussed and grew our businesses. And we did it all without the need for a blowjob as a referral bonus.

Now I hope I didn't make this sound like these events were christian revival meetings, because they weren't. We did/do work in adult. By day it was business by night it was a choice.

(Dang I just read that post and I sound like a grandfather sitting in a rocker telling stories of the ‘olden days’. )

    My two cents.

GA, excellent post on how times have changed!!
    Started at Disney, eh?:disney:

Now you only have to visit GFY and a few other industry boards to see how the biz has changed, not neccesarily for the best...

I'm in the business to make money and build relationships with my site surfers. Many of those young 'uns don't have the same perspective as we old folks do LOL The money is ok, but this isn't a gay web pimp lifestyle....

    Same here, Tim.

The money is ok, but this isn't a gay web pimp lifestyle....
Gay web pimp lifestyle LMAOPIP I don't know if it's sad or not. But when we did shoots recently for DILF exclusives... I was standing in a room telling guys to take off their clothes and I was surrounded by naked men. It was business... and not once did I think... OOo let's get me some.

Now that I think of that, it's probably sad HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Although my hubby wasn't there... it would have been different I'm sure LMAO

It really does separate the men from the boys as quality in content should be the selling feature. How does a bj or any other gimmick help your cash flow meaning your clients/members that ultimately decide whether to continue on going to your site??

Sex SELLS - apparently it has the power to BUY too.

Then again, I am not one of those who run around higgly piggly on the show floor and parties with a camera snapping every model within my light meters range.

Admit it, you guys are just jealous because it's only girls giving the blowjobs. :beauty:

Seriously though, I agree with all of you. There was a party at Internext in Hollywood (I talked to GA at this party) where they were spinning a wheel and one of the prizes was a blowjob. What the hell kind of guy will sit there in a room full of people and get a blowjob? I mean besides a porn star. That's why Gary and I stayed out on the balcony for the whole party I guess.

There was another party that TheLegacy and I went to where they had a bed set up and people were fucking and guys were shooting it while a crowd of a couple hundred people all stood around and watched. We left that party after about 20 minutes. I'm just glad they had limos running often enough that we didn't get stuck there all night.

I told Rob that we should have gone to one of the gay parties, but no, he had to go to that one.

That's sure as hell why I stayed outside, that night, bud. And the frequent reports that were announced "he can't get it up" were a bit much for me too.
