How Do You Feel About Real / Fake Celeb Sites

Just had a company approach us about launching a male celeb site thru Stud Money personally, i dont like these sites at all due to the fact the content is more often than not unlicensed.

Just wondered what you guys would do in such a situation had you been approached and why?

    Regards,

    Lee

Oh should clarify, this company wasnt talking about celeb pornstars but rahter pics of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and the likes.

Personally i have nothing against seeing naked pictures of Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt just dont want to promote them in a paysite LOL

We have had male celeb sites (malecelebrities.com and malestars.com) since 1996 and have done very well with them. There are some definite legal precautions you have to take and have to have a budget for legal research, etc.
Our sites contain more that just pictures, such as movie reviews, biographies, cast lists, etc.

    Hey you

I owe you an email i know willg et it sent as soon as i can hon

I actually hoped you would reply to this thread as out of everyone i know you would be able to shed a light on the matter of the legal side of things

I know we had a brief discussion abotu this at the show so far as the legal side of things go and we were in agreement that there was a lot of research and legalities to be chacked out but what about those sites that well, quite obviously havent done this research (as was in the case of the company who contacted us )?

Personally as i say i dont like these sites other than to 'look' at the pictures but from a business standpoint i can see them being a lot of work to update and maintain not only from the cost involved legally but also the time involment in scouring the web for the content to use or, are there companies who specialize in this type of content for webmasters?

So many questions.. so little time

Oh and sorry to put you 'on the spot' hon ill make it up to you i promise

    Regards,

    Lee

You are right, running a celeb site takes a lot of work. Finding the content, keeping it legal, take up a lot of time. And to be fresh, you have to update quite a bit. I don't know of any companies that provide this kind of content to webmasters.
It seems that most billing companies will not accept new celeb sites these days. In fact, in the past month I've seen over a dozen celeb sites shut down. It's a tricky biz.
If I were you, I'd stick to what you do best, unless you really are willing to devote A LOT of time and money to the site.
Should you, however, decide to take the site on, hit me up and we'll trade traffic!

ps - i signed up for studmoney so let's do some biz....

celeb sites are okay but I think the trend for the future is going to be reality sites / niche content

Honestly, I think celeb sites are funny to look at. I always sit and think "How can this image be real..?"

I mean, do people really think that Tom or Brad is running around naked at the public pool in a hotel? I guess everyone needs a dream.

These reality sites, , they are getting to be more funny then hot. (To me anyway.) They are hiring models that are known porn stars to play gay hitch hikers? If your going to stage some content, use someone that isn’t in 25 VHS/DVD movies and plastered all over the internet. (Ok, maybe I’ve just seen to much porn.)

It wouldn’t shock me to see porn online going towards those mom and pop looking sites in 5 years.
