What Should I do??

I produce photo and video content and a model just came by today who's got a Drivers License and a Birth Cirtificate. His BC is valid and up to date BUT his Drivers License (the only ID with a photo on it) has been expired for some time (I can't tell when it expired but take a look for yourself).

Should i still go a head with the shoot? Or do i need to wait until he gets an ACTIVE DR or some other form of Government Issued Photo ID?

We scheduled the shoot for tomorrow so i need to get back to him asap with my decision. Thanks everyone!!

Looks Like It Expired In 2003 , Birth Certificates Are Good But You Really Need The "Picture I.D" ( Goverment Issue ) To Make It All Legal! , Especially If Your Considering Selling His Sets As "Content" To Others.

In the US, the law requires a picture ID, but the wording of the law doesn't mention that it must be current and can't be expired, I don't know what the law is in Canada. But since you don't need the documentation until you actually release product, you could always go ahead with the shoot but insist he get a valid ID, as long as you trust him to really do it. Hope that helps.

For content buyers, yes. They'll notice that right away, and even if the law doesn't specifically address it, smart webmasters will want everything perfectly in order.

A birth certificate is fairly easy to fake, so be careful. Do not accept an expired identification card--period. Ask a bouncer at a bar if he would take an expired drivers license--the easiest way to get a fake ID is to use your older brother's expired drivers license when he renews.

I advise anyone to use the I-9 list of acceptable documents found on page 3 of the US Form I-9

It is better to err on the side of caution. If the model really is of age and you refuse to shoot until the model provides acceptable proof of age, you have lost a little time waiting for the shoot. If the model is underage and trying to pass off someone else's expired driver's license as his own, you are unknowingly creating kiddie porn. Don't rush things like age verification.

I used to work in retail and when the store I was working for still accepted cheques, one of the ID's required was a DL. Drivers Licenses that were expired didn't cut it as a form of valid ID. In our case 9 out of 10 DLs that had an old expiry date or some "small flaw" turned out to be fake/fraudulant

Can't he just goto the DMV , pay a few bucks, and get an ID card on the spot? Doesn't have to be a DL :high:

I wish, Squirt. However, this is Canada and things don't happen as fast here.

I can't believe that models can get their STD/HIV test results in 24 hours in LA!!!??? That's amazing! It takes about two weeks to get your results here!
Anyways, just to prove my point
