I'm not sure I'm following you. I have some sites listed on pornwizard, but I didn't submit them... the sites must have been spidered. And what was changed? The listings still link to my sites.

At this time I think it would be a good idea for you to elaborate on this a little more. I link to this guy from some of my pay sites, and have done business with him in the past on various levels.

I have never had any ill business whatsoever from or involving him, and as far as I know, no one has.

I did check my sites, and they're just as I've left them.

If you have some proof or other substantial evidence, I suggest you post it.

I will immediately attempt to contact him by ICQ and bring this thread to his attention.

    Thank you,

    re:shedding light

his script redrected any page with his search box script on it to his sites.!
Shall I post a snapshot of my Urchin stats?
Damn, this shit has too stop!

This cheat thief should be branded for what he is. nothing more nothing less.

I never received any email, no contact and he has my ICQ#, sees me online almost 16 hours a day, and is in the same damn time zone. **** that ....

This is what was posted at the top of the redirect!

Webmasters I tried to reach you via email, but no reply. I don't have your ICQ saved so this was the only way to get in touch with you. I made this window pop up to get your attention. Would you please load the pornwizzard.com remote search box from your server or just replace it with a text link? I get too many remote requests (since every surfer that hits your site also loads my remote box). Sorry for the inconvenience of this popup, but it will be gone as soon as you switch the remote search box that loads from my server, to this one, or simply replace it with a textlink.

    Here I am.

Just as you promissed, you took it to the boards. Well if you are going to quote me, why not paste the entire conversation and not just clips that take it out of context?

Anyway, here's the story. In beginning I had let people hotlink my remote search box (which contains a .swf flash animated sign). All of a sudden I found the load on my box go up to 60/100 and my dual xeon server was slow as hell. I was loosing all my traffic so I had to do something about it. I emailed everybody whose email addy I could find, to remove hotlinking, waited 2 days (loosing traffic). Nobody seemed to care, as I continued recieving quarter of a million remote box requests a day. So I modified the .swf flash to pop up this page:
    http://www.pornwizzard.com/hotlinking/

It helped, within 24 hours I lost some linking partners, some switched to textlinks, and my ex linking partner here took me to the boards.

gtpadmin, as I said on ICQ, I'm sorry for all this, but I had to do it, it was the only way efficient enoug. I can understand that you're pissed and if you wish I can make it up for you in traffic

    Darko

If you had placed any of his original scripts for his search boxes to your page it was auto / hidden redireced---
I was lucky I caught it in time. He stole THOUSANDS of visitors from me in a matter of hours. I was stupid enough to have his code straight on some of my index pages.

    Urchin stats--- are pretty reliable.
Those were last months stats of 1 of my sites you stole from!

I hope this post is read often and for many months to come, for you should be exposed for what you are. If you think its ok to do this and get away with it... your nuts! And for sure somewhere in the future you will do the same again and again to someone else..

I work damn hard for my websites traffic, and everything else I do and invest my hard earned money... Not for someone like you to rob me.
I hope this haunts you for years, because I am sure there are alot of other webmasters pissed off at you as well.

There are enough bad eggs in this business and the ones that stink need to be shown for what they are.

From what i can tell after reading this thread a couple of times it looks like Mayday was allowing webmasters linking to his site to hotlink the recip button correct?

Then once he realized he was burning to much bandwidth he changed and redirected the hotlink recip code?

    Am i close or not?

    Regards,

    Lee

yes, that's correct. however bandwidth was not the problem. the remote box was made of 5 files (4 images and a .swf). Imagine what it does to your CPU/RAM/httpd if 5 files are called few times per second..

Hrm on first impression I'd gather that someone allowing for the hotlinking to take place - and then changing their mind because of the burden in places upon his own resources - should have just deleted the hotlinked file and swallowed the sacrifice in traffic and recip that would have caused because it was a problem of your own creation.

I understand you made an effort to contact everybody but that redirect seems to have been a very poor judgement call.
