I think studies like these are important. Any study on human physiology is important. And as soon as they prove without a shadow of a doubt what the rest of us already know to be true (that the vast majority of us were born gay), then hopefully we can FINALLY have some fucking peace in the world and get some goddamn equal rights amendments in place. Right?
Studies about the origin of homosexuality are HUGELY important to our civil rights. WE don't need the studies to validate ourselves, but sadly, the rest of the world does. It's like
Brokeback Mountain. A lot of gay people hated it. But it wasn't really for us to begin with. We don't need to be taught a lesson about how bad societal oppression and homophobia is, but the rest of the world does.
A lot of us who are out and who have been out for a long time... it must be said... we live in a bubble. We're OUT damn it, and we develop this sense of entitlement and this sense of liberation that comes from living in cities where there are a lot of gay people. We want our equal rights NOW, damn it, and we dismiss anyone who doesn't see it the way we do. But we have to think outside "the gay box" and take into consideration that the rest of the world -- sadly -- is just not as evolved and self-aware as we are.
