It is unfortunate that people's faith in the country's election system has been destroyed. I assign that as Al Gore's most lasting legacy.

Like any good conspiracy, no amount of corroborating information will ever disprove claims of voter fraud, because conspiracy theories by their nature are unable to be disproven.

Squirt, you often ask why Bush won two elections. There is no single answer, but I can suggest one reason out of many was the alternatives the Democrats presented for the voters. John Kerry was a terribly unappealing candidate whose own loss was amplified by the increases Republicans made in Congress and at the state level (more evidence against the "aha! Ohio Voter Fraud" conspiracy, btw)

Sometimes elections are going to be very close. That is natural. This is routinely reported as a "torn electorate" - but I think that it indicates a healthy competiton of ideas, and a benefit of democracy.
