I MAY either be posting a lot or NOT all over the next week.

I am involved in scripting project that is killing me. So sometimes when I am "stuck", this board can be time to vent/relax/offer advice/learn something/or just piss someone off (not intentionally).

I am also reading a book again (maybe the third time) - Short Term Trading In The New Stock Market by Toni Turner (a woman). It is a book that I recommend to any webmaster regardless of wheter they day trade or not (as I do).

The advice and strategies she gives, if you read into them apply to any decison you may find yourself making in any part of your life, including porn.

Not at all. Each chapter she gives advice from her own personal experiences.

For example on the most basic terms, he states that investing in the day trading is a BUSINESS. Treat it like a business. Before you jump in have a business plan.

How many webmasters actually have a business plan with sales goals per month?

One simple quote,

"The secret to making something work for you in your lives, is, first of all , the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and belief that it can work; then to hold clear definite vision in your conciousness and see it working out step by step, without one thought of doubt or belief."

Now she elaborated on that.

This is from an analytical book on day trading.

Basically from just a fundament point of view MANY webmasters don't have a business plan, have no slaes goals except I want to make money, and have no faith in what they are really doing.

Maybe I am too analytical. ANY decision I make is based on 90% number and 10% gut feel. Usually the numbers win. But I have a Math degree, worked as an actuary, and deal with charts from 9am - 4pm every day.

Many times when I post It's based on numbers that I have see others do. And though NOT all will obtain that trend, it is still there. You just need to tweak that trend. The pay per signup discount model is one example that I have pages of data on. And what if scenarios. Day trading is like porn in many ways. A day trader has a strategy that is basic to his risk/tolerance just as a webmaster does. Then he/she has to contantly adjust based on market conditions. The same is true with porn in many ways.

After playing poker for two years and doing day trading, porn has become more a "business" to me. Every project I work on has clear defined goals. And some goal are not profit orientated. They may be market share or branding.

An example Lee gave was abot McDonald's and Microsoft and how long they wait for a profit.

To BOTH companies it not about short term profits. XBOX may never break even, but they have a plan that in 18 months they feel it will.

McDonalds will spend 2 mil to construct a store accross from a Buger King with one goal in mind - lose money for two years whil the BK is in businnes - lose money a year after it close, then make more money than if you just opened a store where you knew you had a chance to make a profit quaicly, but never see the profit grow beyond the level of eliminating a burger king store and be the only player ina demographics.

It's a technical book, but a very theoritical as well.

I have learned a lot. I think the most important is to create a clearly defined plan of attack. And to think beyond 6 months. Day Traders think in terms of minutes, but as she said that's just the small picture. It's those you think not just in terms of minutes, but years as well that are truly successful.

I am studying for the bar as well. LOL.

I realized that it has always been my dream. When all the companies peddling CP bring down this industry and another Republican contraolled conress/house/president is elected. Porn as we know it online in teh US will be drastically different. I give it five years, but I am willing to create a five year model. build a business. And just as a day trader hope to sell it at the right time.
