Oh what new laws now?
Michael
Ok, not new per se, but more apt to be enforced ... where anyone putting up an image is considered a producer nowadays, and needing full documents on hand for any pics used.
I think they'll continue to change and overseas hosted/maintained TGP's will dominate ;)
which, once again, points out how stupid the loser republicans and right wing loonies are... the new laws won't do a thing to stem porn traffic or business, and *certainly* won't do anything to curb obscenity or cp. It will just drive legitimate adult webmasters and content offshore where it's mostly out of reach of investigators but still accessible by US citizens, and where it's mostly, for practical purposes, exempt from the sort of regulation that sites are in the US.
And, of course, it means that all those porn dollars that used to be spent with US companies and put back into the US economy will instead go to other countries, probably never to return to the US.
Brilliant move all around.
Same happened in Germany - they're as "smart" as the Americans - just in another way. We had an "ok" Age Verification System, using your ID for access a porn site. It was easy and for free. Then they decided: Oh, wouldn't a "Face to Face" control on the internet be safer? Sure - said and done. New law. If you are based in Germany you have to provide a face to face control for AVS. Regardless that other countries offer everything without - also in German (Austria, Switzerland)
Result now: Offshore companies, Webmasters out of business and no AVS at all.
Have a great day :)

Yes, we Germans are smart, aren't we?
Jawoll :)
.. we are :innocent:
The only thing I see that might need to change is that the hosted thumbnail will be PG rated, or X rated, but not sexually explicit. The gallery links are not hosted by the TGP, in most cases and in that case, no 2257 docs need to be kept by the TGP owner.
Now this is where I keep getting confused ... if it's a hotlinked image or feed, you're saying we don't need documentation? I thought if an image is on your site, regardless of how it gets there, you're supposed to have docs on it.
It is our understanding, based on two legal opinions from different firms that linked to or plug-in content itself is not on your server, you have no control over it and therefore are not a primary or secondary producer of the content. Now, some or most of the TGP sites host the thumbnail and that is where offering a non sexually explicit thumbnail would be a work around and also ensure that banners on the sites are not sexually explicit.
I think you will start seeing a lot more US webmaster actually move out of the country or form partnerships with other non-US webmasters.
