How much VISA business?
Hi Eveyone,
My site has been live now for 4 months and we are starting to see a significant increase in business. Since we were totally new to all of this and had no clue if we would see any sales, we initially opped-out of the VISA program from CCBill (700 bucks!!!, ouch).
Ok, so now it is 4 months later and we are making sales. My question now is, “Does anyone have a breakdown of what percent of sales is from VISA vs. MasterCard?” How bad am I hurting myself by not taking VISA at this point?
Thanks
-Mike

Hey Mike, I've found VISA to be about 70% of sales. So if you're getting decent sales, you're only getting about 30% of what is possible.

visa has always been 70 - 80% of our sales.

yup thats about right, 70-80% of sales consistently. If you are not accepting visa you will prolly get a few people who have both and will whip out their mc instead, but honestly you are missing out on the largest market.
cheers,
Luke

Ah ... this explains why my traffic isn't converting. I didn't realize you weren't taking VISA. To be honest, had I known you weren't, I wouldn't have put your site on UB's homepage, it's a waste - that's how significant a role VISA plays in this business.
You should see conversions jump significantly if you begin accepting VISA.
Cheers

yeah, that's pretty much it.
Not taking Visa is like only doing VHS.
You'll see a HUGE jump when you start taking VISA.
Really.

May be off topic...but did you guys see where VISA and I think Mastercard just lost a class action suit for overcharging their merchants for fees and for the $750 fee that VISA charges and they are going to have to issue refunds that total in the hundreds of millions?
From what I remember, sites (including adult sites) that have been using VISA and MC since the mid or late 90's are going to be eligible for refunds.
I'm going from memory so if anyone else has more accurate info, post it please.
