i guess im stupid, but i thought all content providers supplied model IDs & releases with the content they sell.
i just spent 2 days downloading 21gb of movies only to be told that they'd send me the documents "within 30 days" ... and thats only cuz i asked for them...
legally i shouldnt even have this shit on my computer right now. i obviously cant use them until i have those docs.

Could be they are updating to meet the new 2257 regs that go into effect?

Quite a few don't include id's with their sets, and many webmasters are scrambling to get the information from them. In some areas what we're asking for is a violation of their privacy laws, but I'm sure many are trying to help us comply with the new law if and when it goes into effect.
Actually Dawgy, right now them being the custodian of the records is in compliance with the law. When this new proposal goes through, then you will need to have these docs yourself.
Most content providers are already complying to the new proposed changes like we are, but some are still working on it. These changes are causing both providers and webmasters a lot of extra work, and if you've bought from a reputable company then there should be no trouble giving them time to get the docs to you.
You've probably already realised this, but it's a good idea to ask before buying so you won't have to worry.
But what's to update.. that's something i don't get. They should have had all the documents ready already no? I'm sorry but i'm lost with it.Quote:

These changes are not approved yet. We can still all fight back by calling your congressional representatives, and by writing letters. Here is where to start:

A provider may be the custodian of records according to the existing law, so, the updating that gaystoryman was referring to was including all the docs with every purchase which is a lot of work if you chose as a content provider to be the custodian of records.Quote:

The ones that chose this way of doing things are now faced with a huge task of adding these docs to all their sets in order to comply with the proposed changes.
