they'll probably have something like this by the end of the week or next week ;)
Wow! That's pretty amazing. It's certainly a good mechanism to counter the rabid commercialism of the Net. A couple of months back, I was looking for information about "ketamine addiction." (Ketamine is the real name of Special K, which is a party drug that's popular in the circuit party scene. Many of my friends are in that scene.) So anyway, all I could find in the top rankings were treatment/rehab centers promoting their services. And although they had pages that were optimized for "ketamine addiction," they didn't have any legit information about it.
So, I applaud Yahoo's attempt to unclutter the results. At the same time, as an SEO guy, it makes my job much more challenging. I've never been one for the SEO trick of moment, I create good quality sites with solid written content, so I generally do pretty well. But I don't really like that someone else gets to decide that my sites are this or that and with the flip of the switch, all my hard work disappears.
However, overall, I think it's a pretty good thing. It'll make it harder for spammers to make money, and that's a good thing.
