ID.; ID.; ID.; PURPOSE.— A preliminary injunction, as the term itself suggests, is merely temporary, subject to the final disposition of the principal action and its purpose is to preserve the status quo of the things subject of the action and/or the relation between the parties, in order to protect the right of the plaintiff respecting the subject of the action during the pendency of the suit.

again, probably the most important meaning of an injunction:preserve the status quo

in other words, "business as usual" for EVERYONE continues.

May turn out, depending on what the settlement is, that an injunction would be preferable.
