GWW / Google SEO Contest Rules + Target Keyword

Everyone knows that Google changes the way they rank sites on a regular basis. Now that the algorithm's change regularly and everyone is competing again can you take a page to #1? More importantly, can you keep it there?

GWW is giving away $350 in prizes to any Webmaster or SEO who can take their page to #1 for the search term "JeeDubDub". Get there any way you can to win a prize.

The competition is judged at three different stages and prizes will be awarded to the person who has the #1 listing on the 18th October, 18th November and, the 18th December.

The competition runs from the 18th of September to the 18th of December 2005.

The first prize of a $50 Amazon gift card goes to the person that owns the page ranked #1, on the 18th October 2005.

The second prize of a 120GB external USB hard drive goes to the person that owns the page ranked #1, on the 18th November 2005.

The third prize of a brand new iPod Nano goes to the person that owns the page ranked #1, on the 18th December 2005.

All prizes will be sent out 5 days after the close of the competition on the 18th December 2005 by UPS or FedEx.

If your page is ranked #1 on all three days, you walk away with all 3 prizes.

Contest Rules:

1) In order to be an entrant in this contest you must be a registered member of the GWW Community.

2) You must place a GWW Button (below) on the page that you are trying to get ranked in position #1 in Google for the search term 'JeeDubDub'.

3) The GWW Button on the page you are trying to get ranked in position #1 must be linked to the GWW Community forums using your referral code (found here)

4) If you do not have a GWW button on your page that is ranked #1 or, you are not a registered GWW Community member when your page hits #1 on the 18th October, November or December, you forfeit the prize and it will be awarded to the person who has the next listing that meets all of the contest rule requirement.

5) Pages on domains owned by GA Media Corporation that may be ranked #1 are not eligible for this contest for example, any press releases on the GWW Directory or Community Forums are automatically excluded from winning.

If you wish to remain anonymous during the contest, you may ommit linking the GWW Button to the community however, it must be linked on the 18th of each month in time for the judging process.

How to win:

Optimize your page to get to the #1 position in Google for the term 'JeeDubDub' any way you can.

Ensure you have your unique referral linking code on your ranked page so that we can identify you as an entrant of the competition.

We will be using the results found at http://www.google.com to judge who the winners of the contest are each month, paid listings are ineligable to be entered in to the contest.

When do you think we'll see the first ranked pages for the JeeDubDub search term?

Also, dont forget, that for many who havent tried SEO as a traffic generation tool, this contest will give them a valuable insight in to how Google works, how long it takes to get a page listed, how PR and backlinks work etc etc.

So, whilst this is a fun contest, its also going to be an educational tool for many at the same time.

Excellent marketing move Lee!

Lots of valuable PR and backlink traffic from lots of market targeted traffic for GWW, not to mention all the additional page crawls this will provide by virtue of all the additional inbound links to GWW!

none the less....a very good marketing maneuver.. and a great contest.

So has anyone got their JeeDubDub site or page built yet and if so, have you spoken to any of our other community members about trading links?

I think we'll start seeing pages and sites listed in Google for JeeDubDub over the next 36-48 hours.

I also noticed that some people have already started registering domains to use for this contest too :)

Yep im hoping to see a bunch of additional results over the coming months, this is going to be a great contest to watch, especially as ive seen a few of the top SEO people in the industry have already started working on getting ranked, will be good to see just how highly they rank in the contest results over the next 3 months :)
