To Flash or not to Flash
Hi Guys,
Video feeds and clips on sites is a hot every now and again topic on here, and i have followed it avidly - looking at all the great advise from past posts etc - trying to come up with a happy medium to put into practise for my members.
Two Question's i have for you is, would you consider going all out Flash ?
I have looked at the plus side and have been told 98% of all surfers have the flash plugin now on their computers - can any of you see a down side to going Flash only ?
Big thanks

I personally don't usually like flash tours, I hate waiting for them to load and often it just takes too long to get to the content I want to get to.
However, if you really want to go the flash route, I would definitely advise you have a 'skip flash tour' link which will take them to a static tour. I almost always click those links when going to flash sites, unless the flash loads ultra fast and draws me in right away.
Cheers,
Dan

I hate waiting for flash too but a bit of flash is quite professional looking. I think you would be safe to go with it as long as your flash bits are kept to a small size.

why not put up a video or two in flash, and a poll for your members right underneath asking whether they liked it, and whether they had any problem with the videos?

good advise
Good idea Basschick, thank you - I will see what the members think.

The problem with all-flash-sites, from a surfers point of view:
You can't save the best content on your own disk for later.
- While this would seem a good thing from a webmasters pov, it could dissuade some (me) from joining in the first place...
