Interesting thing came up I was out with Show biz friends and they told me to lie and say I just did Internet Marketing... I did not lie.. I have no shame in what I do.... I am wondering if you guys tell people you work in Porn or if you just say Internet Marketing...
Well for a long time I didn't say a word to my mother. She is a very conservative individual who has strong feelings on pornogrpahy. So for a long time I just avoided the topic and said I sell ad space online. She's not stupid and knows me well enough to know I wasn't telling all. But for a while we left it at that. She knows now, and doesn't like it. And I know she hopes that all of our non adult business plans take off LOLQuote:

My Dad is an entrepeneur, himself, so his questions were... "are you doing anything illegal?"; "are you making money?"; and, "do you have any passwords I can use?". Which is exactly what I expected of him.
Anyone else I use caution. They're are those who will be freaked out and lecture... and those who won't. I just try to assess the situation. I'd rather not bring it up in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner like Lee does. I, also, don't deny it.
In December, I thought that it was a lot that many of my cousins were meeting Lee for the first time... AND my aunt had just passed away. But in normal fashion to my clan, nothing compared to my cousin Steve saying, in the middle of everyone, "You don't think I can use a search engine? We know who Gary-Alan is..." Followed by a bunch of my cousins regressing to childhood with the taunt "we know what you doooo... we know what you dooo..."
It was hysterical!

My parents and friends know exactly what I do. They don't care. Hell, few of their friends know also. I used to lie about it when I was dating because when I would meet a nice guy they would stop wanting to go out after a month or so. Telling me "Your always around all those hot boys, and I'm sure that their are drugs and all. I can't feel comfortable knowing that you might cheat or something."
WTF! Just because I see naked people all day doesn't make me a dog? lol I think I'm the only 26 year old that couldn't careless if they got laid. Sorry about the little tangent there guys. To answer the question yes, I tell people the truth, I do sales and marketing for porn videos and websites.

Pretty much everyone knows what i do. especially my family. even my 87-year old grandmother is an internet surfer. i figure it's better they hear it from me than find out through a google search!
Yes, pretty much everyone knows. I've never been terribly keen on keeping secrets, hiding stuff, or being dishonest. I think that just builds shame. And I'm not ashamed of what I do. Besides, as soon as my personal trainer and I finish whipping this body into better shape, guess who's planning to get in front of the camera?
I think people appreciate my frank nature. Others just don't know how to take me, but I'm not here to please them.
I just finally told my parents at Christmas time. After over two years of working in this industry. Initially, I just told them I got a web design job. I wasn't ashamed to tell them, it's just that my parents and I have a long and turbulent history. We've reached a point where after 40 years, we're finally getting along and we respect one another and my sexual orientation isn't an issue. I just didn't feel that they needed to know. Just like they don't need to know whether I'm the top, or my partner is, or whether we fight like dogs to be on the bottom.
When I told them, I did so with a no-big deal attitude, and they had pretty much the same reaction as Gary's parents: You're not doing anything illegal, are you?

Actually, I haven't had much exposure to family or friends in real time for the question to come up. Some online friends know, and are OK with it, but as some of you have said... I sort of "screen" who I'll tell.
I personally don't tell people what I do. I simply don't have the time to have a hour long conversation to break them of their preconceived notions.
Also I got sick of people trying share with me their porn experiences with me.
"One time I was surfing and I got a pop-up. Was that your site?"
"I got a strange charge on my phone bill. Was that you?"
"One tine I was surfing and I found this place with pictures of naked people. Was that your site?"
Porn is a tiny part of my life. When new people I meet find out what I do, it becomes the center of most future conversation.
