Ford Motor Company & Gay's

Well I saw the post on the board about Ford advertising and it's relationship with Gay's, so I wrote them. Here is what I got back, thought maybe you would find it interesting to read.

it's already been posted, but thanks.

btw, gay men are men, not "gays". by calling them "gays" the straight community labels gay men by their sexuality alone. i feel that calling someone blacks or gays is to take the thing that most threatens "normal" society about them and then labeling them. there is more to each and every one of us than the first adjective one notices.

Thanks Basschick. I stand corrected on both counts. As for the article being already posted, I have been gone for eleven day's and must have missed it. As for Gay's. I agree 100% and I do stand corrected. Accept my apology.

hey, no apologies are necessary! and ford recently decided to stop advertising in gay magazines, then changed their minds - after everyone i know wrote to them about it. i'm glad they made the decision to support ALL people rather than give in to some bullies.

it just drives me crazy - periodically i say "they aren't called gays" on a str8 board, and the guys ask me "then what do we call them?" like gay men are another life form. i ask them "do you call yourself straights" and when the answer is always no, i ask why it would make any more sense to call gay men gays.
