General Website-Logo Question

Hi,

I always wondered why a lot of websites have their domain-name as a logo and not just a plain logo without a domain name?

What's the thinking behind that? I figure for myself that the "one-handet-surfer" could just remember that certain domain-logo and type in just the domain - which would leave the webmaster who promotes a program out of the race. Or am I just plain wrong?

I guess many are going on the concept that the more times a surfer see's a domain name the more likely they are to remember it however, i feel the same as you in that a good logo should be more distinctive than the domain itself.

Anyone can have a good domain but a good logo that is memorable, imho, is much better than a domain.
