Adult Industry Jobs... Your Feedback...

Okay just thought i would throw this question out into the open..

Out of all of the jobs available in the adult industry:

Webmaster
Marketing Rep
Sales Rep
Programmer
Designers
Technicians
Support Staff
Board Whores
+ Any I Missed

What do you think the average pay package is for them if they actually work for a company as an employee as oppose to working on their own?

Here are my guesses..

Webmaster - $12k
Marketing Rep - $10-$15k
Sales Rep - $20k + Commisions
Programmer - $18k
Designers - $18k
Technicians - $15k
Support Staff - $20k
Board Whores - $8k + Commisions

They are based on an average of say a 40 hour working week for 1 year.

What would you guestimate the pay level of each of those job roles to be?

Lets see what type of price ranges we can put on peoples jobs in the adult industry :)

arie is a programmer - he makes around $50,000 a year (without overtime) and is looking to step that up a bit.

I honestly had no idea they could make that much a year :eek:

Doesn't list the pay scale: but an interesting position if you're in southern calif

BTW - a degreed Webmaster averages 55-80K per year, and one that specializes in Unix/Linux can expect considerably more. Now that's for general industry ... I don't know how that translates to those working as a webmaster within the adult field.

I have quite a few of the classes required towards my webmaster degree ... had to stop working towards it after the car accident, etc., but do hope to finish it eventually. Those classes are megga bucks ...so anyone going through it would expect to walk into a pretty high paying position when done. (I DID manage to finish the A+ Tech Certification before life turned upside down!)

And I think some of THESE are low for the internet as a whole. Not sure about adult though.

Bec I used to teach classes like that at the community college in NJ. If it wasn't for my ultimate desire to get the hell out of Jersey, I'd probably still be there. Those tuitions were high and the salaries the instructors made were excellent (I was the group manager so I knew what everyone made LOL).

Plus the expectation of those finishing the program were high. I had students who thought they'd make 65K in their first year out of certification, automatically. Most who left my classes started at 80-90K - but that was also when 'dot com' meant huge money for everyone.

awww...I feel like I really missed out on everything! I was programming my old computer at age 7 (1987), selling and repairing computers out of my home at age 13 (1993), had my own computer store at 18 (1998), and was an adult & non-adult webmaster from 19-22 (1999-02)...and I still don't have anything to show for it! I don't even have a car...i'm staying in a friends sister's basement! Wonder whats wrong...guess you really do HAVE to go to college, even if it's just to prove what you already knew...

You know, I did get something out of it, I payed for my own legal custody change when i was 15 with the money I made selling computers...but I want a car!

Talent.

Now, I know that general concensus in this industry is that talent is just like any other ownable, in-animate commodity. However, there are many successful people in our industry who start there. I certailnly wouldn't consider myself successful yet, but you can bet your ass I will be! And look at Jenna Jameson...

Anyway...when I started doing that we were making $12.50/hour plus commission on our private calls at Pornication. Way more money than I make now :crybaby:

Actually - you'd probably do quite well. As Gary mentioned - the high paying positions come after 2-3 years experience... and you certainly can show plenty of that! And if you do decide to pursue the fancy certificate, many colleges now allow you to test out of some entry level courses as well as credit you for what they call "life experience"... check local community colleges for Continuing Adult Education courses for better, fast track classes.

Yea, the courses I was taking were through the Community College here in Cleveland ... and by the time I finish up, it's easily 10K plus books and other expenses not included in the course ... like the software you'd need, etc. Books for even a 5 week class were topping 100$ plus... and outdated by the time the ink dried at the printers.
