How Focused Is Your Site Portfolio?

So ive jut been talking to someone on ICQ about their sites and, specifically, why they dont appear to be getting any sales.

On the face of it, there is absolutely no reason why this webmaster should be making a couple of sales every day however, upon closer inspection i started to notice a couple of things..

1) They were using the same sponsor on all of their sites and, even worse, the same paysite and promotional tools.

To me, this is probably the biggest mistake an adult webmaster can make, whilst highly targeted niche specific paysites and promo tools are a great addition to any webmasters marketing arsenal, there is such a thing as over-doing it.

If you are promoting the same sponsors paysite on hundreds of sites that all look the same, using the same banner, you are eventually going to run out of steam, meaning surfers will become 'immune' to your marketing, there really is only so many times a surfer can see the same banner over and over and over again before they close the browser.

2) They were focusing on the exact same niche on all of their sites.

As with anything in the adult industry, diversification is the key to success, there are those webmasters who really do have a lot of luck promoting the same niche day in and day out however, to really maximize your profit making potential, you should, IMHO, target a lot more than just 1 niche and, even if you do only promote 1 niche, make sure you break that niche down in to its sub-niches and promote some of those.

A good example of this is 'twinks' everyone seems to be promoting the twink niche these days and, because of that, conversions on most twink sites range from anywhere between 1:500 and 1:1000+

What if, you still promoted twinks but, you promoted ebony twinks, blonde twinks, asian twinks, twinks in socks, twinks in leather, etc? There is definately a place for promoting the micro niche sites and, if you have a good level of generic 'twink' traffic, you can use filtering to better target that traffic to one of your micro niche sites which, in turn, will result in much better conversion ratios and more money in your bank account each month.

So, that being said, how many of you folks are promoting more than one niche and, if so, are you micro-niching your sites too?
