Just Curious.. What Are Your Thoughts On This New 4472 Bill?

Children's Safety and Violent Crime Reduction Act of 2006

I havent seen it mentioned in the past few days on GWW so, i can only assume nobody knows about it as yet.. Even though it has been passed by Congress.

Here are two of the interesting parts of the bill for those of you not in the know about it at the present time:

1. Record keeping for simulated sexual contact for productions being produced AFTER the law becomes law.

2. Additional 2257 labelling of sites displaying simulated sexual contact.

So what are your thoughts on this, another attempt to rid the web of porn or something much deeper?

instead of passing silly laws about record keeping for legit webmasters, why dont the government pass laws that will actually halt child porn online, like forcing us isp's to block access to the sites.

child porn creators wont obey the law anyhow.

They could go anywhere with this one...who knows. Maybe they will round up all violaters and have us put into slave labor camps that are built and maintained by Halliburton, KBR and Bechtel...Making "Freedom isnt Free" bumper stickers and promotional T-shirts for the next GOP presidential candidate.

THAT is why im a little worried about this, it looks like it could have the potential to do a lot of harm to the wrong people, in a short time.

laws are often written "counter-productive" of the purpose they were created to enforce that's why it's so important to have a good lawyer.
you will see more laws proposed/written like this one , it's meant to thwart the production of porn.

Why? You mean just because Hollywood now need to keep record on all the high-school movies where they dry-hump each other, American Pie Clones, Sliver clones, Basic Instincts, Blue Lagoons (ok, toooo old *grin*). Hollywood all the sudden has the same issues as Porn Industry - I bet they do not accept being tossed into the same buckes as the "Filthy People" are...

The courts will throw it out.

However, a proper adult industry advocacy organization running educational announcements to the public would do nothing but help.

Like throwing shit at a wall, some of it might stick.

I think a lot of what is in this bill will not pass muster, but it complicates the FSC case going on right now. It may be a bullshit bill but it will take time, money and effort to fight it and it buys the neo-cons some publicity in their fight to retain control of Congress.

Once the final version is passed I will write a comprehensive opinion of the new language if ya'll are interested.
